I think he's just saying that having a vet presence is going to help a guy learn the ropes in the NFL.  Coker does it himself, but every player benefits from vet expertise (especially from a guy that's essentially been there).

Most teams get good ones early , Panthers just historically suck at it

Victor Cruz 2.0. Hope he can stay healthy unlike Cruz. I think he can be a long term starter for us, but ideally as a #2 not our top guy. Maybe Legette can develop into that top guy but not a good rookie season.

I can see the Cruz similarities. I read a Coker piece where he said that he was getting some 4.4s before the hammy knocked him in the draft. Healthy is key. He said he’s been healthy his entire college career until that point. 

The offseason couldn’t have come at a better time for him, and he’s going in to it with his most clutch game to date. 118.8 passer rating and a heck of an effort at the goal line.

He owned the last drive. Most rookies, and a lot of veterans fumble on that goal line play trying to do too much. Smart guy with strong hands and ball security. That play showed me a lot. He was right there but showed restraint. Intelligent. 
 

I want it for Xavier as I genuinely like the dude and his ceiling. Hopefully the wrist surgery fixes the drops. I can’t think of a single true #1 in the league who catches with his body.

Legette is very raw, but if the light comes on, his ceiling is much higher.

I would not sell Coker short. He's only going to get better.

      Coaching and a massive lack of execution which falls on Canales. Monday nights loss was 100% on him.  Dave Canales continues to put this team at a disadvantage week in and out with personnel decisions. So far we’ve seen him go with Corbett over Mays. Killed Rico’s momentum by having him split carries with Chuba. Went back to not taking advantage of using TMac in the slot last night after doing so last week (only 5/29 routes ran last night were from the slot). Only lets Bryce get comfortable in gun and spread when the score dictates it. Taking a point off the board to go for 2 and call a passing play. Concedes the opening drive after a penalty. We need a weekly Zavala injury to happen for Dave to give Curhan who is the much better guard, playing time.  As far as execution goes the all-22 is gross. This is on Tremble. Tremble is supposed to run along the goal line and take Brown with him. Instead he runs towards back pylon allowing defender to make a play on the ball. A terrible missed DPI call and this game was a complete disaster.  The highs and lows are in large due to Canales.  This guy hits the nail on the head   I’m guessing Dave overcompensates this week and comes out running the ball no matter what while the Rams are putting up 7’s on us real quick. Should be fun…
