anyone who has watched the progress that Bryce has made this season and not be excited is just afraid to hope. at the start of this season most everyone said this season would be considered a success if we could win 4 or 5 games (checked) and see progress from Bryce (checked) and the team as a whole (checked). This was a fantastic season. I believe in our GM, our coach and much to my surprise our QB.

WE have a long way to go but I can see the path finally. Bryce may be a game manager, and he is but I think he's also a winner. He has that "it" factor. He's shown it already. It was just his second season and first with Canales who seems to have the "it" factor too. Are they there now? No. Have they shown me that they can be? Hell yes.

The offense looks good. Now, I totally expect them to improve the defense. Does that make us a good team? not yet but I can see it coming. The long lost and talked about culture finally showed itself this season. I think these Panthers are on their way to becoming a good team. Best season in 10 years.

To beat Atlanta at home and to eliminate their playoff hopes at the same time is something we haven't seen in a very long time. Anyone who can't appreciate that is just looking for  a reason to be sad

Top left quadrant is not where you want your QB. This means they're not seeing the open receivers and throwing blindly to a point that is double or triple covered. Threading the needle is not what you want a QB to do regularly at this level. It's high risk and low reward as it will hurt a receivers YAC and increase the chance of interceptions/tip drills. This was Mac Jones territory last year. You won't see Mahomes, Jackson, and Goff in that quadrant.

You’re joking right? BOTTOM left is not where you want your QB. Throwing into tight windows inaccurately.

Top left means you are literally throwing guys open. Which is what you want a great QB to be able to do. Your comment is insane.

Best at throwing into tight windows and throwing open receivers = game manager? Game managers check the ball down

Exactly.

In other words... don't read to much into charts and graphs. The people that do are the same ones that tell you that stats don't tell the whole story and watch the games with your eyes.

No, let’s clarify. It means Bryce is having to throw into tight windows but he’s doing it in a way where only his receivers could make the play on the ball.

I would rather see wide open receivers like Goff but this shows how good Bryce is of making the best of what he has, throwing guys open.  So in that sense he stands out as a really efficient QB.

Agree 100%. Tight window throws is more of a wide receiver stat in my mind. The panthers separation stats aren’t great so the high % of tight window throws makes sense.  It’s great to see the accuracy but ideally you want to limit those types of throws by throwing to open receivers.

You are reading this wrong to make it say what you want it to say.  You are saying because the qb threw in to a tight window then that means they made the wrong read or there was a wide open receiver somewhere and that isn't in the data at all.  That's you making a blank and filling it with your opinion.  Our receivers are below average at separation.  There is a good chance a tight window could still be the best or only possible throw to make.

I agree with everything but the game manager part.  The opposing team ran against us constantly which offered less possessions and plays, which has an impact on putting up gaudy stats.  If you look at it though Young had some of the most "big time throws" of all qbs last year.  That's not a game manager stat.  I think if you're not a running qb and you can't throw 75 yards then some fans are going to put you down as a game manager.

No it's not saying Mahomes and Lamar suck, it does means they're throwing into tight windows less frequently which may be a reflection of their scheme or receivers

Exactly, I think this is the big difference with Bryce from last year and first two weeks. He was too hesitant to pull the trigger and not trusting himself to throw into tight windows.  Now he's just letting it rip and doing a great job.

Josh Allen and Joe Burrow are in the same quadrant as Bryce on the chart.

Nice try.

I'd check this thread as well. It's looking like our investment in the O-line certainly helped but a lot of the metrics are saying it's more a mid unit than an elite one.

That middle image is interesting, I expected more turnover worthy throws from Bryce because he's one of the lowest starting QBs in terms of his percent of supposedly "bad throws."... But I think he tends to miss to open areas of the field where he's expecting receivers to be vs where they are.  Hopefully that'll improve with time too

Bryce has always tried to protect the ball and avoid turnovers. He will throw it away before he will force it. Look at his TD to INT in college.

    • If Mays has a market, which it seems he will, he's gone.  I think we bring back Nijman for too much money to be cautious at LT, Corbett comes back cheap since he's already said he wants to live in CLT, and Christensen eventually gets re-signed with the hopes he can be depth at some point.  Draft an OT, draft a C. The OL might be rough for stretches next year, but time to get some youth there to prepare for Bryce in 2027 or the next QB. I still think we compete for the division in 2026 and can go back to the playoffs unlike the oddsmakers in Vegas, but the *real* year is 2027 IMO. Either Bryce has proven it and he's the QB looking at his 2nd contract, or we have the ready-made team for the next rookie QB or Vet we trade for.
    • The Panthers are going to have a lot more flexibility in free agency than it looks like at first glance. On paper, the cap space might seem tight, but there are several obvious restructure candidates that could easily free up significant room. Between converting base salaries into signing bonuses and spreading cap hits out over future years, Carolina could realistically clear $60–80 million in additional space if they wanted to be aggressive. That kind of flexibility means they’re not stuck. They can extend key young pieces, add help along the offensive line, upgrade the defense, and still be strategic about value signings. Letting Cade Mays test the market makes sense from a leverage standpoint. If he’s willing to come back on a team-friendly deal, great, continuity on the line matters. But if his market price climbs, the Panthers should absolutely explore upgrades. The point is, this front office isn’t boxed in. With cap maneuvering and smart structuring, they have the ability to be active players in free agency rather than sitting on the sidelines like we are used too.
