This was a topic discussed by Dane Brugler from The Athletic in his latest two-round mock draft.

The respected analyst placed fortifying the defensive trenches at the forefront of Carolina's plans.

1.  Georgia edge rusher Jalon Walker was the pick at No. 8,

2. followed by Texas' interior force Alfred Collins as their second choice.

I dont think there is any way the pats dont go Oline with their pick.   Being able to have their choice of the top guys would seem like a no brainer since Maye got his ass kicked all year

Hell yes all day to Jalon Walker

Alfred Collins looks rather beastly too.

Might be the route to go... I don't see a solid pass rusher falling to wherever the Rams end the season, so unless they're confident they can trade back up into the top 45 I would be very okay with those two picks.

Thinking about how nasty Walker/Wallace will be as a tandem in a year or two... ooh wee mayne

I mean Vrabel has already said getting a player like Tet is their number one priority but go off.

I dunno…

I saw the interview. I think they’ll try to trade for AJ Brown or sign Tee Higgins. Vrabel also talked about the importance of an OL

I think fans are much higher on McMillan than the NFL world is but we’ll see

Walker just makes a lot of sense.

Feels a huge need not just by position but just that a elite athlete we don't have.

Fits the mentality we want on the team.

He is Probably a Panthers fan being from the area.  Could be wrong.

Just seems like a Panthers pick.

Also we haven't been putting much stock into Georgia players which i have no idea why not considering the poor talent level on this team. This would be a great way to start.

They have the cap space for Higgins.   There is no lt in free agency as good as Higgins is as wr

73 rec 900 yards 10 TDS. This is playing with a Top 5 elite QB and the 1a/1b WR in the league across from him.

I think someone is going to way overpay this dude and he is going to be a disappointment.

Not trying to prove any point just thought about what higgins stats were when chase is out, found this

Tee Higgins has had 31 catches for 511 yards and has scored 3 touchdowns in 5 games without Ja'Marr Chase in his career.

    • If it wasn't for age, Cignetti would be getting NFL looks.
    • We had so much dead cap-- When Dan Morgan was promoted to general manager and president of football operations for the Carolina Panthers in January 2024, the team was facing a substantial $69.3 million in dead cap space for the 2024 NFL season--that is like taking the annual salaries for three or four elite players and throwing them away. Most teams only have about 6-8 elite players (Hunt, Moton, Horn, Brown, Lewis, Ekwonu, Young for now) and these are the players that win games. Imagine being able to rip 3 players off any opponent's roster before playing them--that is how handicapping this is. Morgan had the challenge of keeping the core together, protecting Young, and filling other positions through the draft and not free agency.  Our WR room is young, our TEs are generic, our LBs (yikes), our edge people are discount low-budget and rookies--We lucked out with Mike Jackson--but his drafts have been solid--yes, he drafted XL, but that was because it was a desperate move--but he also signed Coker.  Yes, he drafted Brooks--but he also signed Dowdle.  Aside from those draft picks, our rookies and sophomores are making a difference.  TMac, Coker, Horn Jr (WR), Evans, Sanders, Wallace, Jackson (DT), Scourton, Tremaine, Princely, Smith-Wade,  and Ransom have made a difference.  When you consider that only 50% of first rounders work out--he is 1-2.  About a third of second rounders work out--he is 1-2 (at this time).  But when you consider that about 30% of all draft picks make a roster, Morgan's rate is incredibly high.
    • I don't hate him, I just don't believe he is an elite player at all.  I agree that Cristobal is a far better coach than Smart. Miami definitely has the better weapons but they are not the better team. I would be fairly shocked if they can keep it within 2 scores.
