What if BPA is Will Campbell?

If the Patriots or Jets don’t take Will Campbell, he will be there for us. Do you draft him?

I wouldn’t be mad if we did. He’s by all accounts a can’t miss LT prospect. We have Icky and he improved a lot last year, and I would be happy to re-sign him. The reason why it might be a sound decision is that it’s clear, Bryce needs time in the pocket, and while our O-line is top 10 now, if Icky gets hurt, who slides into LT? Additionally, Icky can also move inside to guard if Lewis gets injured. Our O-line, while top tier, is thin, and ensuring the Bryce’s backside is protected for years to come and not vulnerable to one player getting injured is worth selecting Will Campbell. Campbell could also play guard. 
 

in short, it’s clear Bryce is a star with a great O-line. Ensuring the quality and depth of the O-line will cement the offense for the next 5 years, if we pick Campbell. Yes, we need D help, but what’s the point if Bryce has a shaky line due to a LT injury?

If there's one thing for sure about the draft it's that there's no such thing as a sure thing. Unless we're planning on doing something else with Icky I'd be fielding calls to move off of that pick.

Injuries derailed him.    But yeah nobody is a sure thing but if he is bpa on their board then that's the strategy.  Solved the moton and icky issue seamlessly

I'd be mad about the pick initially, but it could make a ton of sense. 

Obviously I want defense, but we're still at the point roster wise where I could talk myself into almost any position making sense for us next year & beyond.

I'd never be upset taking OL early, especially at such a coveted position. Ickey is ok, Moton is old...I'd be all for it. Is it our biggest need? No, but it's such a valuable position.

If this scenario does happen, then it pretty much cleans up the oline, somewhat cheaply, for a very long time.  Fitt painted the front office into a corner with the moton deal and that has to be addressed at some point.  I would prefer walker, Carter or trade back but I would be pretty happy if we landed the best LT in this draft.  Icky could be a monster on the right side.

If he is actually BPA then yes. Save money with Moton and flip Icky to the right or trade Icky for a pick. I really do think y'all will be surprised tho with the defensive players at 8. I think Will goes early, Hunter, TMac (surprise), Johson, and the 2 QBs. I wouldn't be shocked if Carter is the only non CB off the board from a defensive perspective at 8.

The only trade for a left tackle that I can remember was 20ish years ago and seattle did it for Walter Jones.  I could be wrong but it doesnt seem common.
