NFL grades on combine participants

Proves that there a few really good prospects and then a bunch of guys all ranked as basic starters. We have to hit on that 1st pick.

They really need to hit on at least half of those picks. They may not be world beaters but they need contributors everywhere.

For fun comparisons look up some past years to see how accurate/inaccurate this is - just type the players name and combine into the search bar and click the NFL website:

Bryce Young - 6.82 vs Stroud - 6.70

Jayden Daniels - 6.73, Caleb Williams - 6.72, Bo Nix - 6.39

Puka Nacua - 5.8

Clearly not incredibly reliable - Have fun!

Draft Tyler Warren if he's there. Go defensive line in round 2. Warren is the next Gronk and could unlock the entire offense. Letting Ian Thomas walk pretty much confirms we will be drafting a tight end at some point.

I don't think cutting our 3rd string TE confirms a draft pick

So we have two tight ends, one who is a middling receiver and less than middling blocker, and the other who is scout team quality.

We are drafting a tight end. Warren is a luxury pick, but you dig holes for your team by drafting for need in the first round. You go BPA and that is going to be Warren, by a mile.

So we have Tremble, JT Sanders, and the Thomas - Franks is the 4th but mainly just for Special teams.  Sanders is a TE - on paper, on the roster, physically, and on the field.  If you are trying to claim because he is a good receiver and not a great blocker he is not a TE then you have not watched very much football, like at all.  Cause that is how a ton of TE's come into the league.  Literally the #1, most common area for improvement for the TE group every single year - especially the top 5 TE's.

And for the 1 millionth time, for the people in the back - drafting BPA is absolutely not a rule that anyone follows.  Not a single team.  They always factor in multiple things, BPA being one of them but not the most important almost ever.  It is an evaluation of need, personal evaluation, pick position/who drafts before your next pick, trade offers, free agents possible.  They don't follow it for good reason.

Perfect example - Bo Nix.  He was not rated anywhere near #12 by just about anyone - including the broncos.  But they drafted him because they NEEDED a QB, liked him, and had no 2nd RD pick.  They outright said that.  Do you think they regret the pick?  They drafted 100% for need and pick position.

Example #2 - Bijan.  Atlanta drafted BPA.  He is amazing, had a great 2 years so far.  They were 7-10 for 2 straight years prior.  And the 2 years after they have been 7-10 & 8-9.  Do you think they made the right decision?  By the way they also spent the #4 overall pick on Pitts, a Generational TE, and he/they suck.  I'd imagine Falcon fans would not agree with your BPA theory since they missed out on Chase, Waddle, Parsons, Horn, PSII, DeVonta Smith - all positions of need in 2021.

BPA is A criteria, but not THE criteria.

The only TEs from that last year's group under contract for next season are Ja'Tavion Sanders and Jordan Matthews. James Mitchell and Dominique Dafney are under reserve contracts.

The team announced that they're going to let Tommy Tremble test free agency. Feleipe Franks is an unrestricted free agent. Ian Thomas is a likely cap casualty.

None of that officially means they are guaranteed gone from the team for 2025 - I was obviously using last year's team since that is the last known roster.

    • The league would protect him.  The amount of poo Jerry Jones has had exposed and got away with?  The amount of poo Stephen Ross has got away with?  How long Dan Snyder got away with essentially fuging sex trafficking employees and poo???????  Taking down JR was a hit job.  You think the other 31 owners, especially the older ones aren’t blathering, blatant, ignorant ass, bigoted rich racists who have committed far worse things than Blue Jean Fridays?  The ones I named above have DEFINITELY did worse than what JR was accused of.  And do you think guys like Steve Smith would’ve been viewing him as a father figure if they felt that’s who he was?  JR pissed the league off with that last lockout situation and they made him pay.  They lined a new guy up to join their billionaire boys club in Tepper, and they prolly slid a pretty penny to Jonathan Jones to write the “expose,” to get JR out of here.  Again, all the owners I’ve listed above have been verified on record for doing worse poo, yet they’re still running their organizations, unquestioned.  They hand-picked Tepper long before JR was forced out, so he isn’t going anywhere.  Sadly.  fug the NFL.  (Also, to be clear, it’s always fug racism, bigotry, and sexual exploitation - not ever excusing it.  Just making the point that the NFL isn’t operating under this clear standard of justice applied to each and every case)
    • I was still in the throes of a contentious divorce and my job at the time had me work on Sundays.  At the beginning of the season I tried to still work around Sundays so I could see our games.  I think after Bryce came back from the benching, I said fug it.  First time in my life I intentionally didn’t watch our games, even through the Atlanta finale.  In the past, even if we didn’t live up to expectations, I would watch to still support and at least analyze player development, strengths and weaknesses, coaching, etc., but Bryce makes all of that a moot point, so I stopped watching. Again, this is asinine,  it if he is retained (still can’t believe this is even a possibility of a conversation due to how shitty our organization has become under Tepper), I will NOT watch next season until he is gone.
    • Live look at Bryce playing ping pong.
