Giants gave him a 2 year $12 million dollar deal two years ago. So he will probably double that amount this offseason

Eh....$12 mil isn't terrible but it's not great. Especially with a minimal amount of cap space.

I believe not signing anyone the first 3-4 days is the best path for Dan/Panthers/brad.

its simple supply demand. slayton is speed, all teams want it. not much proven NFL talent ava.

I'd prefer to draft a speedy WR will the hope he could post slaytons weak stats.

I really liked taylor (LSU) at the combine.  I think he will be special.  And I think, if you had a meter that showed how much you improve with each player, a stud TE might move the needle more than a deep threat WR--just speculating

This is a crazy deep TE class. I am very reticent to take a guy that I don’t really believe is head and shoulders above the pack(Warren) at 8.

I want a TE and Edge/DE in the top 60. Hence why I am so dead set on trading down. This seems like such a great draft to do so.

i know he is "game fast" but no way I'm touching that dude running a 4.51 40 at 155 pounds

Because he's quick and has great acceleration, but lacks top end speed. You don't send him out to run deep routes. He's a YAC guy on shorter routes.

Depends on price, IMO.

Yeah; that was before people started going on about his market value. Insanity.

I figured he was a flyer deal type guy you pick up like week 4 of free agency.

Reports are he is in demand form several teams. He "talking" about winning and upside teams.

12million per and at least 3 years??? *looks at career stats*, IM OUT.

I just feel you could use a mid draft pick or even UDFA method. Panthers found Bryd and he still playing for 10ish years, he ran a rumored 4.2 during pro day. They are still out there, just got to find them.....(no hope with your piss poor scouts)

this guy is late round flyer https://www.nfl.com/prospects/jaylin-lane/32004c41-4e31-2554-c6a4-fc92e7409218

others are just like him. Pro day will show more too.

We can get a speedster for way less than what he wants. What would be the purpose of signing an overpriced veteran whose contract we'd be looking to get rid of in a years' time. I'd rather try an overpay to get an actual impactful WR 1 rather than throw that kinda money at Slayton who's contact would be the equivalent of miles sanders but at WR.

Sign someone who's actually worth the price tag or let Coker and XL continue to get the reps and develop and take a flyer on a kid in the draft.

I dont trust that number, he slipped or something because as you say he has a cheat code video game speed when it matters.   And his 3 cone and 10 yard split times were outstanding

Dude is quick as hell and is running away from people.  The play at :34, 3:13, 4:01 sheeettttt

dude is 20 pounds lighter than Devonta Smith, like 150lbs soaking wet.

I want to reiterate what Basbear said--wait three or four days--do nothing in free agency, and let the prices and players fall.  I know you are not getting top end players, but you can upgrade positions.  I think a rookie GM (like Morgan last year) might go all in during the tampering period, but maybe he will be a bit more patient.

Having said that, I see Morgan going after a DE/DT, WR, and S.

fug that buy some big names while Bryce is on his rookie deal. Let's go for the division next year

    • Night and day difference in the front office investements.  Since Morgan has been in the FO (5 years)....4 out of 5 first round picks have been offensive players.  The one defensive pick was a corner. Expand it out to the first 2 rounds? 7 out of the 9 picks have been offensive.  That IMO is why our D sucks so bad.   You build defenses up front.   Carolina hasn't been investing there.  Ron's first 5 years? 3 of the 5 first round picks were defensive players.  Expand it all to include second rounders  7 of the 10 picks were defensive.  All front 7 players.
    • I think he gets this year to show what he can do.  Last year, we had a lot of injuries. This year, we should have some players, even if we lose one or two.  It's the first preseason game.  Some of the starters weren't even in it.  There is no scheming or game planning.  Let's see how guys do when it counts. I think we have a GM that knows a thing or two about defense.  Let it play out.
    • I was ok with the mentor aspect of keeping Dalton, but wow has he fallen off the deep end. The slow behind the WR interception was awful. I keep hearing our WRs created no separation, but on that particular play dude was wide open and Dalton couldn't get it to him with a clean pocket. Next year, we need to address the backup QB spot haaaaaard!
