Wow geno smith to the raiders

This saves Carroll from drafting a rookie and basement dwelling for the next two seasons.  Everyone knows new coaching staff + rookie QB = suck.  Don't get me wrong, they ain't making the playoffs, but they will have a significantly better record than last year.

So the raiders talked to Sanders and said forget that let’s get Geno.  Is Sanders a late rounder / second rounder now?  I don’t think many if any teams want that baggage

Two ways to look at it. Either the Raiders think that Ward and Sanders are gone by #6 or they've decided they don't want any part of the circus. And if the Raiders are bowing out of a circus? Wow.

The wild thing will be if they still draft Sanders at #6 after the trade for Geno because you KNOW they Sanders camp will be pushing to be the day one starter. It'll be a proper poo show. LOL

It seems weird to trade Gino before you know that you can sign Sam

They just released some key vets and seem to be in the process of trading Metcalf. Sure seems like they're just hitting the reset button. Signing Sam Darnold honestly doesn't make a lot of sense for them. My boy Sam Howell might be getting ready to get tossed into a raging dumpster fire. LOL

Howell starting would be a very obvious tank move.

It's strange for a HC to be down with a full tank in year two. I am skeptical about that.

I think maybe they recognized that Geno was basically a 10-15 ranked QB that was likely still going to command a significant price. The QB market has some interesting options too. Washed former greats(Rodgers, Wilson, Cousins), draft QB's that no one is super excited about and some potentially attractive reclaimation projects for the completely delusional(Darnold, Fields).

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
