So Mike Jackson got a two-year, $14.5 million deal.  That is a good length and amount. IMO, we need another CB.  Smith-Wade (NB), Jackson, and Horn is not that strong and it is thin. Maybe we can draft one or pick up another.

Man, this roster was bare.

I mean, it still is pretty bare, TBH.

DL: Derrick Brown, A'Shawn Robinson, Bobby Brown III, Shy Tuttle, Tershawn Wharton, Jaden Crumedy, Labryan Ray
EDGE: Jadaveon Clowney, DJ Wonnum, Patrick Jones II, DJ Johnson, Boogie Basham, Amare Barno
LB: Josey Jewell, Trevin Wallace, Claudin Cherelus, Jon Rhattigan
CB: Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson, Chau Smith-Wade, Shemar Bartholomew, Akayleb Evans
S: Trevon Moehrig, Demani Richardson

Defense still needs a starting FS, CB depth, and LB depth.

C'moooon Jevon Holland...

TBH, this is still a bottom 10 defense on paper. BUT, probably not a bottom 2 defense.

A couple more pieces and this team could make a surprising turnaround

Front 7 is still pretty bad. Brown is a big upgrade but Wharton is a pass rush specialist who is very poor against the run. Jones is also a rotational pass rushing guy, so that won't move the needle much.

Draft will need to be very, very good to make a big turnaround.

At least we're adding two browns back to the defense. Putting Derrick back in is like picking up an all pro in free agency

    • Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk. In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.
    • As far as the NFCS … I think this division will be hotly contested the next couple of years.   I am tending to pay more respect to both Atlanta and the Saints n terms of how strong they will be moving forward, than not.    I am mixed on Ryan but think they have a decent roster to start with. I don’t think he blundered hiring Stefanski. And that offense can be dangerous with a QB. Plus, defense is arrow up. No 1st round pick, WB issues will dull their effectiveness. Question is, to what degree?   I think Moore is going to be a good HC and can overcome tape that people have on Shough. They need a lot but they were playing with people. Just the way you want to see all the way to the end.    Not sure about Tampa they have Mayfield but I don’t think they can maintain their success and Bowles is not going to last much longer. They have to go through all that. Gonna be tough once it starts. Might already have started.    For us I feel pretty good about Morgan. But less so about our offense, we have some short term RB and OL issues and those things are critical given what we are working with at QB.  Overall, mixed. Like a lot of what I see but some major question marks remain.
    • Absolutely. If we are talking about a 20 year old youngster. He's a grown-ass man, and he doesn't know what his job entails or how to do it? Maybe he will be better next year! It's the Panther way.
