Anyone Seen the ESPN Projection Guide? *Spoiler* Panthers Suck

Team by team projections and as much stats as any numbers nerd could ever dream of.  Scroll to the Panthers and *woof* they think more highly of a steaming pile of elephant dung.  Statistically an underdog in EVERY game and no better than 6 wins.

It's projecting Brooks plays 7 games. OK, this is something we should lend credence to. 😆

I saw that too.  Sure some factors of input will be off the mark.  Again, these are just projections, but analytics are a huge thing for a reason. I would venture the win total for us is closer to right than not.

Sucking is the new normal so this is another lazy take that's still true.

Will they be picking in the top 10 again next offseason? Yup.

I'm not so sure it's lazy as they did the entire NFL, not just the Panthers.  Was there some bias in the input? Probably, but running statistical analysis isn't inherently biased.  I'm not going to dig into their methods for creating all this data, but I'm confident this report wasn't done by homer Falcons and Saints fans...that's to say they had malice towards the Panthers regarding the less than flattering projection for our team in 2025.

Perfect, that means we probably go 10-6. ESPN is probably about the least reliable source of sports knowledge, including people that have never played or watched sports for their entire life

    • Pretty sure that a QB contract payday is all the competition any QB in this league needs, I don't think a competent backup is going to make them play any harder when the current situation wouldn't warrant the contract extension yet anyways. Your opening point in this post is also the problem, "Bryce has shown signs of improving", but that's still all he's shown, and he's only showing that because of just how bad he was to start his career. If he played like last season from the beginning and never improved one bit, then I actually think more fans would be ready to move on from him, which is what's weird.  It's like going from one of the biggest draft busts of all time into the 25th best QB in the league over 3 years means he deserves a long term $40+ million a year contract extension. Improvement shouldn't be the goal when the result of said improvement is still bottom of the league levels.
    • Yeah, but we've seen him do it. Just not often. I think that's the reason for the taller WRs. Would likely be a problem finding someone like Jimmy Horn in the mess.
    • And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
