Kaye’s Take: The #Panthers had two safeties on defense, Scott knows the system and will be seen as a core four special teams ace internally. After losing Franks and Johnson, Carolina wants to reinforce depth and special teams productivity.

This doesn’t preclude re-signing or drafting anyone. Panthers have plenty of deep depth holes to fill, that’s what they are doing here.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Panthers agreed to terms with S Nick Scott on a one-year deal
Scott drew interest from other teams, according to Mike Kaye of the Charlotte Observer. The 29-year-old is a depth safety and considered a special teams ace. With only two other safeties on the roster, it made plenty of sense for Carolina to bring him back. It’s the second consecutive offseason the Panthers have given Scott a one-year contract.

As long as he isn't a starting safety. Backup is fine. Special teams is great. Starter...

Agree. This is just the David Moore of defense. He knows the system and his role. Willing to play 4 phase STs. Able to spot stater in dire times. Most important- cheap.

The #Panthers have agreed to a 1-year deal with DB Nick Scott, league sources confirm. @AdamSchefter had first.

Scott had interest elsewhere is my understanding. Last year, he was the personal protector on special teams. Viewed as an ace internally.

All I seen reported is a "mystery team" AKA probably his agent trying to convince the Panthers' front office that there's TOTALLY another team trying to sign his client.

    • Varying degrees all around but it starts at the top. That is where the buck stops. It has been 8 years of stupid, long before Morgan came back. Or Tillis was hired. Made it to the top of stupid mountain in 2023. Stayed in stupid limbo for a while, now we are prepping to scale the next mountain. In this case, I like those guys’ roster building better than what we have had so I am okay with them as our current pawns in the game of Bryce.
    • Don't let me gas him up too much, but I hear this and that...... I seen a wide body man with a quick burst, that's able to shed blocks and if extends his long arms its over. He tore up the OL in the senior, you seen about 10 plays and the dog walking OLman. There's other plays of him doing the same, just have to deal with fetus talking over the plays. Plus there's this-  https://x.com/PFF_College/status/2018385471068332410?lang=en     I hope he's ready, cause Id like to see him starting and doing his thang with dbrown, nic, and Phillips.
    • I mean there is relevance to that. But I think much of it has to do with the fact that he is clearly likeable. But does that translate to a coach taking his position to the next level like those that have had staying power for many years like Spoelstra? And not for nothing but does how much someone is liked even matter? Across leagues with the Panthers Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney were universally well liked by players. Dave Canales is very well liked. I say you are what your record says. And the record says you got your ass handed to you by a fellow expansion team in the Magic in a game that was over at halftime and that same team went toe to toe with our nemesis who has been handing us L's for over a year now. And if Bam doesn't get his leg swept by LaMelo do we even get past the Heat? Again. It just all boils down to personal standards. I think newer and younger fans will love this. I just want to actually win a real playoff game fam 🤷‍♂️
