The Carolina Panthers will host a joint training camp practice for the third consecutive summer. The franchise, entering its 31st season, will host the Cleveland Browns in Charlotte for a single joint-practice session ahead of Week 1 of the preseason

The Panthers will host two home preseason games this summer.

Canales, who plans to play the Panthers’ starters during this upcoming preseason, has a relationship with Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski. Both head coaches wanted to create a competitive simulation without risking heavy exhibition workloads for their top performers.

'we both plan on playing our guys in the preseason. “And so we said, ‘If we’re not going to play them the whole game, why don’t we practice a couple days before and get a little bit more work out of it, knowing the rest of the group is going to finish out that game?’

Quote

“We took a big swing and miss with Deshaun. We thought we had the quarterback, we didn’t and we gave up a lot of draft picks to get him. So we’ve got to dig ourselves out of that hole. [The trade] was an entire organization decision and it ends with Dee and I, so hold us accountable,” Haslam said, via Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.

Maybe instead of the Jets or Browns aim for a team that isn't a perpetual failure too?

These connections stink. Maybe check out what well run franchises are up to and not the HC who is still employed because Watson and his trade were a gaint barrier to any decent hire? Canales wants to do what the guy with 3 wins last year is interested in. Yikes

The one bullet Tepper did manage to dodge.

He got outbid, period. Fortunately there is at least one franchise more stupid than us.  It wasn't for a lack of trying on Tepper's behalf.  If the Browns would have bailed at the last second, Watson would be our problem.

Somewhat ironic that Tampa is making playoff runs (albeit in a weak division) while Cleveland has to dig itself out of a hole.  Baker Mayfield wasn't the problem in Cleveland.

He wasn't the problem in Carolina either.

    • Yuck.  I still kind of like Herbert but these playoff performances are rough....
    • I feel like this was the case with River and McDermott defenses as well, we just had the jimmies and the joes to overcome these deficiencies with all pro players at edge and linebacker positions.  Even then, was extremely frustrated in 2015 when we'd let team come back from 20+ pt deficits playing prevent only to barely win at the end.
    • We need to move on soon and just use Bryce as a bridge to find our next guy. I'd like to see how this offense works with Canales hand picking his own guy. Bryce holds this offense back a lot considering you draft the first pick to carry your team and be your best player. We invested heavily for Bryce and need everything to go right just to have him look like a solid game manager sometimes. When he plays well he can look decent or mid, but when he plays bad he looks like a bottom 5 qb in league (backups included). It's not worth it, especially if we need to pay him soon, which means we have to skimp all over the roster. If the defenses don't hand it to us on a silver platter Atlanta style then we struggle big time. Defenses don't respect the offense at all. With Cam we could have the worst offensive talent and I'd still think we had a shot in any game we played. If Bryce is facing a 3rd and 10 I pretty much wave the white flag and don't think we can make that first down.
