Gettis and LaFell

Regardless of how they are getting reps, they are getting them. Gettis is fast and runs good routes--something we didn't expect. Lafell has hands issues, but he has also had to run routes for numerous QBs this season alone. Throw in the fact that the QB play at LSU was shoddy last season, he needs consistency.

I think we are a RG and a few injury recoveries from have a good line again.

QB play affects ball placement, but once it hits the WR hands playing for numberous QBs doesn't make a difference.

Not necessarily. Some QBs have faster ball rotations, the nose drops on deep balls, the ball might arrive a half second sooner out of cuts. Some throw it harder than others. Some WRs trust the QB to throw them open while other QBs hang them out to dry. Please think before you criticize. I played WR in college and we had about 8 QBs. each was different, and we knew it.

LaFell seems to be maturing a lot faster than expected. He gets both feet down in bounds, runs crisp routes, has solid hands. With improved QB play he could be something special. If we can get a QB to effectively throw the deep out route, he will be dangerous.

Gettis has blazing speed to stretch the field. He has the potential to be a #1 WR, but currently I would place him in the slot in a few situation, which would allow us to get mismatches, a Go or seam route between the safeties (particularly in a Cover 2 Defense) could really cause some disruption.

I'm really excited about these two AND Edwards next year. The simple fact is that it can take 3 years for a WR to hit stride and be NFL caliber... So these rookie flashes are promising for LaFell and Gettis, and AE gets a pass for being a rookie and a change of position WR... He'll be golden soon.

I thought Gettis could become a good WR after watching his highlights from college I figured that since he played for a team with horrible offense that he was overlooked. I didn't think LaFell was a good pick at first considering his weakness was his hands and a WR's job is to catch the ball. LaFell's weakness showed at the beginning of the season but he has improved and has been able to catch a whole lot better which shows the kid can learn from his mistakes. His ability to mature and learn the game will help him develop into a good NFL player.

I have very high hopes for these guys and maybe one of them can become a 1,000 yard receiver some day.
