Chris Simms: Jalon Walker is the most overrated player in the draft

And you know what. That works for me too.

It won’t happen but those are two Pro Bowl players, almost guaranteed in my opinion.

take the Coastal NT in the 2nd round (I think he transferred but I remember him from Coastal).

We don’t need DB’s, either way. If we draft corner at any point I’m going to lose it. Corners are only as good as the front 4.

Trying to figure out a S/LB tweener is different than an I/OLB hybrid.  He's already done it with Luvu.

It wasn't really that complex what he did with Luvu.  Played him as a lb on running downs and edge on passing downs.

The question, once you agree how he might be used, (the same dilemma applies to Hunter with the CB/WR critics) is he a top 10 pick at the role you drafted him to play?  Is Jalon Walker a top 10 edge?   LB?

For example, if Hunter was the third best CB and the third best WR, would you draft him in the top 10?  He goes #2 or 3 because he is the best WR and the Best CB in the draft.  No risk.  Walker?  He is not the second best edge in the draft.

Risky.

Love the kid--hope it works out wherever he goes.

Jalon is going to be a victim of his environment, unfortunately.

Fortunately, we have a couple of blueprints (Haason Reddick + Frankie Luvu) for different development paths that might work out for him.

Unfortunately, Ice, there are some blueprints of hybrid LB/edge players who were busts too--Everette Brown is one, but he was forced into a 4-3 DE role here.  I would say that the 3-4 defense has a lot of wiggle room for hybrids at the OLB/Edge position--I am just not seeing Walker as an elite player at any one role.  Coverage?  Rushing the passer from the 9?  And at his size...

If we take him, I hope that I am wrong because there are some personalities I really would love to be on this roster.  Jihaad Campell is one.  Bech is another.

We have seen Dewayne Jarrett and other guys who cannot handle press coverage. I think we are excited about how good he would be in Madden at 6'4 running 4.4.

Dwayne Jarrett would be T-Mac's floor if he were to fall into a coma and wake up 3 years from now and come back to play again.

He isn't a perfect fit at any one position but the reason people are high on Walker is he might be the best football player in the draft. He'll make an impact on way or another.

    • Can we not lose to the team no one wants.
    • People remind us of that all the time. By year two we probably had a better OL, in sum, than Cam did most years. We have good running backs. It isn’t all a tale of completely dysfunctional woe, with Bryce having no help.  Every Bryce person seemingly, loves to tout the big time throws and all their stats, okay. That PFF page on him says 4 games of 16 regular season games with at or above a 100 passer rating, qbr, whatever it was. 11 games with under 200 yards passing including one with 40 yards net. Seahawks.  They have him ranked 23d of 45 that they ranked. Putting our team’s QB 23rd out of 32 teams.  In what people claim as his best season. That is officially number 1 alright, of the bottom third in the league. And they pick up the year option.  He may do great next year. Or he may sit right where he has been mostly sitting  - mid to low 20s.    I understand we are committed to seeing him under center yet another make or break season.  Thought we just went through one. Weill be doing that over. Mulligan. My question, f he is no better than 20th next year… do we have to do this again? in 2027?
