I kinda hate getting our pick spoiled but at least the Huddle has more Time to debate

I agree in round 1 you take the BPA--here is why--let's say we take a TE or OT--most edges that are the best fits are second rounders.  We can get a decent S in the third, and depth DTs on day 3.

I personally do not buy into the Jalon Walker is a lock nonsense.  If true, the team has some leaks that Morgan needs to address.  Walter said, "Team sources"  I call them spies and leaks.  Telling people what you think serves no positive purpose.

I would love Warren, Sanders, and Tremble at TE.  I would love an OT because I know that would give us leverage with Ickey and a backup / replacement for Moton.

That's funny... only 1 out of at least half a dozen even had him sniffing the top 10.

Enjoy your perspective as skewed as it is.

I was giving you the benefit of a doubt, but now I know you don't know the difference between a Big Board and a mock.

The team has had leaks for years, this is the first draft in years where I don't personally know someone on the inside that I could get information from and I'm just a fan, you don't think the media has more inside information than a fan?

That said Walker is a lock if he's there.

Let's take this one site, it pulls data all over the Web and Warren's average is #9.  I think that is "sniffing" the top 10.

If folks read the very first sentence, they ranked players using data from 172 Big Boards.  They must be using different sites than PantherClaw uses.

If carolina doesnt walk away with Skateboo in this draft......

Skattebo, Warren, and Restrepo are my wish list. I'd like Josiah Stewart out of Coastal...erm...Michigan too, and he can be had on Day 3.

With the offensive line playing the way it was, and five tuddy Bryce playing the way he has been, the running back room, tight end room, and receiver room all of the sudden look a whole lot better if you add those three.

Restrepo, Theilen, and Warren to go along with Xavier to take the top off would present issues for any defense in the league. You got the carvers, you got the deep threat, and you've got the wrecking ball.

He has the HS running back problem. Penn State entirely centered their offense around him and half of his touches were very targeted, designed plays in that lame offense that’s held Allar back.

I don’t necessarily see the “wow” with him as a receiver or blocker. If he has a traditional TE volume, I don’t see what separates him from a Tucker Kraft or Sam LaPorta as a prospect. He just got massive volume that it almost distorts his baseline skills. In a perfect world, you get a Jason Witten-esque guy (but that’s the high bar)

That being said, he’s still a 1st/high end TE talent, but it’s not this ultimate blue chip some are making him out to be. I just don’t see how someone can place him in that tier but somehow Jeanty will fall out of the top 10. We will see come Thursday…

Warren is as fluid as Travis Kelci. Every other guy you mentioned but Bowers are stiff and they play stiff. The flexibility Kelci provides KC cannot be understated.

As for you don't see what separates him? His highlight tape says enough. As for the volume issue, or "high school running back issue". The guy was the best player from the 3rd or 4th best team in the country. This ain't no 1A high school championship running back. This is your 7A running back in Texas who had 350 carries and 75 tackles.

I'm not saying he isn't good. I have him rated 9th and Loveland 10th on my own board. I just think Walker is a better player at a more valuable position.

I know where you stand and I don’t anticipate much agreement here.

I really don’t. He’s a bit better at perimeter work and reliability in the seams, but take away all the wildcat, trick play and college-specific work, I don’t see it. My eyes must be broken.

Bryce wasn't even cracking an average of 200 yards per game in regulation to close out the year.  We were 30th in passing yards on the season.

He made great strides vs his rookie year.  Glaring change.  But that was glaring simply because of how historically bad his rookie year was.  We are still a bad passing offense.  2024 was a bad passing O.

I'm not buying whatever stat twisting was done to come up w/ Bryce was one of the best deep passers in the league.

I still think it's simple.  You want Bryce to succeed? You need pass catchers out of the backfield.   You need slot/TE play.  You need YAC.  You need him to be what you drafted him to be.  We were way below average in terms of production out of the backfield.  We were way below average in terms of YAC.   Dreaming up we can somehow make Bryce some chunk play passer downfield is not something worth bothering with.

Trade him if you don't want build around the dude you mortgaged our future on.  Keep him and play to his strengths.  I don't care which one.  But pick.  I give them a pass going into last year of things conflicting.   Now you got to pick IMO.

Eye test wise Bryce looked like a different player by the end of last season. Even someone like myself that has been very skeptical will readily admit he looked very confident and made some very nice throws you would expect to see from a top pick. Statistically though you are correct there's been some coping going on and there were times that people were just clinging to whatever random statistical anomaly they could find from randos on Twitter. On the surface I get it. We need something anything to feel upbeat about. But if we want to win with Bryce not just short term but years from now we've got to increase YAC and that isn't going to happen with folks here awkwardly rejoicing over giving comically slow Adam Thielen a raise. But we don't have to draft a TE in the top ten to address this. We just need to be intelligent and stop trying to draft the same mold of WR over and over.

AT contemplated retirement this offseason and missed 7 games last year.  The fact he our featured pass catcher pending we don’t see some one emerge remains scary.  AT should be a 3rd option at most.

Offense is still a priority IMO given we have to still build even an average pass O (which we weren’t last year).   Way too much “we are a defense away” talk going on.

I don't care about offensive production for a team that literally only threw to him and the running back. I care about what I see on film:   Dude cannot separate on his own against talented LBs/S and had to be schemed open; his route running is below average; while pretty athletic, he doesn't have elite athleticism or speed; his blocking form has quite a few red flags (dude should be a dominant run blocker for his size). He was talented enough to get open in college against a slower LB/S; that won't be the case in the NFL. Not to mention, the dude pretty much was nonexistent until this year for Penn St. If I am drafting a TE in the top 10, choosing a 5th year senior that didn't do anything until his last season should be pretty alarming.

Not saying he is going to be a bad player - I think he will be a solid short/intermediate possession TE in the NFL. I just don't understand the logic of taking him top 10

Kelce, Olsen, Witten etc ain’t getting open for winning the genetic lottery either (not by NFL standards).

me wanting Warren has a lot to do with the fact we got Bryce Young and the glaring needs he needs to be successful.  And Dave is flat out going to have to migrate to new views on passing (which I think he can).   But we will stay a bottom tier pass attack unless the weapons and calls change.  I don’t care to barely compete with a great run attack and great D in today’s NFL.  You got to build your O around your QB to really compete and be something on O in today’s NFL

If there is anyone suggesting we are a defense away from legitimate playoff contention they are smoking some good poo. I think we should be able to compete in this pitiful division but anything else is hopium at best.

Now as far as this insistence from our FO on overvaluing Adam Thielen goes it makes me concerned for their judgment overall and if I am being harshly blunt it just sounds like Scott Fitterer logic and says they have virtually no confidence in their ability to draft receivers.

    • If you are an athlete or former athlete (myself?  Cornhole 2021-present; Disc Golf 2013-got a mega blister and had to retire; speed walking--every black Friday at Walmart 2003-2009) you know what it is to lose confidence.  Self-inflicted or not (in my view, a lot of 2023 was coaching and a lot of 2024 was confidence), he has confidence now. How fragile is it?  I think the light is on, the game slowed down, and he is ready to do his thing.  He seems to be "mobile in the pocket" instead of "running scared."   Last year, there were times when AT was out, Johnson gone, and all he really had was XL and Coker--a raw rookie with upside and an UDFA rookie.  TE was rarely a viable option. It reminded me of Benjamin and Funchess.   Moore had to step up.  This season, Bryce has weapons.  I expect XL to improve.  I expect TMac to help tremendously, and I think Coker will be solid.  Renfrow?  Horn?  bonuses.
    • His points are valid.  However, it seems a bit based on past performance and fails to take into consideration trends and conditions that might suggest growth in 2025.   For one, he breaks the team down by position and ranks them separately.  I guess that is a fair way to do it, but they are dependent upon each other. Last year, our DL sucked.  That impacts the rest of the defense.  With no internal pressure, the QBs simply step up to avoid the Edge rush.  I would have suggested that the internal DL is now featuring pass rushers and large people who can collapse the pocket.  Secondly, the LBs were not protected very well in 2024.  It is hard to see the holes and step up when a guard is in your earhole a second after the snap.  Finally, the defensive backs will be forced to make fewer tackles and they will be better in pass protection with a new and improved DL.    Canales made an interesting comment the other day, and I (from the outside looking in) feel the same way:  (paraphrasing) "I have never seen a better group of rookies."   I think the biggest concern is the learning curve.  How long before these rookies are ready?   I am bullish on this team.  I think they win 3 of their first 4 and get confident.  The get the fans behind them.  From there, they win 6 of the remaining 13.  If they stay injury free, they have an outside shot at the NFC south.
    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
