REPORT: per Albert Breer, Panthers have been most aggressive team in attempting to trade back

Breer confirms similar sentiment as McShay reported earlier.

Never be desperate. When you're desperate you're gonna get fleeced. We shouldn't be desperate to trade down. Be willing to take the best player on your board if there isn't an appealing offer.

Watch something like trading #8 to Sean Payton in Denver for #20 and #85 or something equally awful.

Makes sense considering there isn't much of a gap between upper 1st round talent and 2nd round talent in this particular draft.  Many teams are wanting to trade back.  It's just a bad draft for top talent...

As I said in another thread, you can pretty much guarantee they'll package some picks to move back up if they move down. So they won't be drafting more guys, just drafting more of the top 100 talent. 

We will probably get a late second rounder to move down in the first and then package a 3rd and one of the 4ths to move back into the end of the 2nd round to have three 2nd round picks.

People keep saying this as a reason to move back, but for me, it's a reason to stay put.

Sure, let's say we agree with the premise that on the whole, teams think the talent level between the middle of the first through much of the second is pretty similar.  The problem is that teams don't view ALL of those players the same way, every team has certain players they like more than others, just as there are some they strongly dislike more than others.

Because of that, it's impossible to predict who will still be there if you trade back, more so than ever before.

For example, we could feel it's safe to trade back from 8 to say 20 because the player we really want, we don't think is going to be taken until the early 2nd, so they'll easily still be there at 20 in our minds.  The problem is that with this draft, that same player could be the 10th person on another team's board and thus will end up getting taken at like pick 13ish.

It's why I'd rather just stay put, take the player we feel strongest about at that time, and call it a day.

You never make a move unless you're willing to take that deal as the only deal. Relying on making a trade up after the trade down just increases your level of desperation and this organization really needs to stop acting out of desperation. It's why we keep getting hosed.

      The last thing I will say, because I'm not going down this Bryce Young rabbit hole again, especially with said poster: You guys aren't the only people who see what you see.  Stop focusing on small minority of fans and voices.  The media has accepted Bryce Young isn't anything more than a game-manager at best.  You can literally look up "Bryce Young Franchise QB" and the only thing that pops up is that the Panthers MAY be viewing him as one, but no media outlet supports it.  The vast majority of fans accept he won't ever be the guy. It is such a stupid conversation for this reason.  You guys get so tripped up over such a small minority.  Bryce Young SUCKS.  We get it.   And feel free to continue to converse about it.  It is a discussion forum.  Have at it.  But can we just stop using words like "retard" to describe people who might not want to go as far as you all do?  Or acting like you have some unique ability to see things in the game that others can't?  There is no "mythos" around Bryce Young except in your head.

      Only thing I’ve seen that says it on is TWSN sports which is notorious for clickbait titles and in the articles it usually says something like this is a prediction not a report even though the title of the article sounds definitive.

      Sorry, someone probably said this, but I'm not going back over 9 pages 😃 QBs get an outsized amount of credit for wins and losses.  Bryce is the same way.   He was far from good except for a handful of plays.  That's not a recipe for success long term.  On the flip side, with the running game and defense playing so well, he's not being asked to do too much.  He doesn't look like "the guy."  I'm all for bringing in real competition with Bryce this year.
