2025 NFL Draft - Day 3 Discussion

OL drop a lot. Day 3 is ideal place to find diamonds in the rough. What sucks is that we’ve barely used late picks on OL. It’s why we have to spend $180M for guards and a center along with pick 6 overall to go with a RT that Gettleman selected.

Trey Smith was a travesty especially when most of us in here wanted us to overdraft at OL. It’s not shocking that KC took Smith and that the Bills and Eagles took OTs right before us. We probably came into round 6 with a let’s get a return man and be happy with it. Actual, quality GMs/teams always draft well and draft value when it’s there.

I'm sick of hearing revisionist Trey Smith stuff. That was 100% a medical eval. If the doctors took him off the board, there's no reason to complain about it. Glad his career worked out, but I'm not second-guessing a pulmonologist.

Jared Ivey, Tez Johnson, Brashard Smith, Isaiah Bond, and Xavier Restrepo would be who I would contact.

    • I mean, if Moore really wants out, then it would behoove the Bears to make it happen sooner than later. X is a lot younger and cheaper, and may be a better fit for Johnson's musings than a disgruntled, unnecessary, overpaid vet. If they can dump his salary and maybe get a fourth or so in return, it may be worth it to them. As for development, I'm not concerned. You're talking about a seeming bust, a day three guy and a UDFA. They are developing relative to their ceilings. I doubt any of them will ever command the coverage, money, or the respect that Moore has acquired. He's a tier above them. Yes, even X.
    • IMO, if Ceedee plays against us, the game probably goes the other way. Same with Tyreek Hill and the Dolphins. Our team just isn't designed to beat teams with two high level receivers like that. But when you look at the league, how many teams really have two guys of that caliber?  There's nothing wrong with defensive adjustments, but sometimes I think a lot of fans want Evero to call a different play like a game on madden, and defensive football just isn't like that. That said, I thought we did a much better job this season against the Cowboys of flipping Jaycee and at least making them work for it, opposed to last season when they literally just lined CeeDee up on the other side of the field every single snap.  For us to just straight up switch to consistent man coverage, or a different zone, or whatever, we likely would consistently need different personnel on the field. Doing it a few times a game is a gamble and can work, but if we consistently run man coverage against the Cowboys, eventually a RB is going to beat a linebacker, or something of that nature with our personnel. Part of the reason Evero likes this scheme is that, while we have our defaults and presets, what we do is very multiple, and you can do a lot of different things pre and post snap. We are a challenging defense to read. But as you said, if guys are getting beat, it doesn't really matter what you call.
