Ex-Panthers great Steve Smith sued under 'homewrecker law' for alleged affair.

$100K is chump change to Smitty.

Marriage is stupid for reasons like this and excessive alimony. You sign a paper and all of the sudden you're trapped under all of these archaic laws that are designed to fug males.

I'll play devils advocate and say this, sex is the most addictive drug in the world and pussy can make men do things that most may not consider to be normal. these two obviously had some sort of sexual chemistry and she was obviously not happy in her marriage, and perhaps Smitty was bored in his now that the kids are grown and he's having a mid life crisis - he got caught slippin.

he'll pay this fine and that dude will live the rest of his life not feeling like he's enough. The chick will prob strike again or be ready to settle down, who knows or cares. Smitty will prob go through a hoe phase for the first time in a long while and then settle down with a young chick that he can ride into the sunset.

everyone makes mistakes, everyone loses in this situation, life goes on, do what makes you happy.

Like bruh, getcha poo together. Once you leak texts between your wife and another man about how he was rearranging her IUD you absolutely cannot try to come crawling back. I'm suffering deep second hand embarrassment from even reading that poo. LOL

This is truth right here. My wife cheats on me and some crazy sex texts go public I’m gonna just sell my house take my half and try to quietly get the fug up on out of there as fast as my divorce lawyer will let me!

Yeah. Putang is a gateway drug. I'm JLD and I'm addicted to putang.

Yeah I've realized that marriage does more harm than good to a lot of relationships. You get so interwined that staying married becomes more important than being honest with your partner and yourself. There's more honesty and effort put in when both people are free to walk away whenever.

It's always been funny to me that "never stop dating your partner" is typical marriage counseling advice. I think the healthiest relationships you'll ever find are the unmarried couples who have been together for many years.

I have been with my wife for 22 years. For 20 of those years, our relationship has been excellent, while the last 2 years have been just okay. The issue isn't with marriage itself; it's about finding the right partner. If you choose wisely, you can have a fulfilling life together. I feel fortunate to have made a good choice.

Your momma was a wise woman.

She was.  When I read his post, I was picturing in my head Sally Fields in Forest Gump--not to make any other connections, I just pictured a wise woman with unconditional love for her son.

I have been saying it for years--Smith is a POS as a human being.   A turd.  A self-absorbed, narcissitic, Napoleonic, punk.  He has good qualities, but they are not what defines him.

Here is a question to ask if you are looking for ways to muddy the waters even further:  Does the Homewrecker Law apply to common law wives?  In NC, common law marriages were abolished in 1989, but in South Carolina, they are still recognized, but they have no alienation of affection laws.  However, one state--Utah, recognizes common law wives and alienation of affection.  That would be something--you are sued for having sex with a woman who has never been officially married.  I imagine that infidelity would nullify the common law marriage, but if the party who was faithful was not aware of the infidelity....

OK, back to sports.

Looks like in Utah common law marriage just means couples can be married retroactively if they apply for it. I'm with you though the alienation thing seems scammable. Fake marriage where the couple tries to extort the wealthy person.

Even if you don't have squat you should still make a prenuptial. No one can get around all the laws but you can skip many of the BS laws out there trying to manage marriages. Settle up front and not when there is something to get greedy over. Being punished by a 3rd party is such BS but also take care and realize the prenuptial is basically a marriage contract where each state regulates differently and you will be at their mercy. Just my take.

I don't care about other people's personal business and this entire thing is a bit entertaining in all the wrong ways.

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
    • Jackie, any more reps tomorrow, or is that it for this session?  thanks for the work
    • How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
