An honest look at Bryce Young

The jump pass doesn't bother me. Cam had an MVP season with people complaining about his footwork and back foot throws. The biggest thing to me that got Bryce over the hump was confidence. He went from never throwing beyond 5-10 yards to leading the league in big time throws after his benching. Once the confidence is there and Bryce is being the Bryce from Alabama, everything else is gravy.

Cam had a natural cannon though. When you have elite talent you can get away with not doing things the "right" way. There's a lot of things elite talents do that you'd never coach because the vast majority of players can't get away with it.

Bryce needs to be watching guys like Brady and Brees, not guys like Cam or Mahomes or Lamar. You don't have to have off the charts physical talent to be great but you better not be trying to do the things the guys with the off the charts talent do or it's gonna be disastrous.

So far what we can gather for bryce to succeed, he needs a top 10 line, a top 5 rushing game, 2 first round wide outs and pristine footwork and mechanics.  Yeah, I dont like where this train is going.  I hope to hell he proves me wrong because starting over is just exhausting.

Cam had no line, no wr's, no mechanics and still was a certifiable bad motherfuger

if we have to start over in 2026 we will be in much better position to bring in a rookie QB

Newton in his prime had a howitzer for an arm and was built like a greek god. When you are that physically gifted things like footwork can be worked around more often. Still. If he had actually adequately addressed it he could have had a different career. And he's already someone who is IMO a hall of famer sooner or later. So what does that tell you about how important it is?

We need to let Bryce Young stand on his own two feet as his own QB. We forfeited exorbitant resources to secure the rights to draft him under the pretense that we would not have to surround him with elite pieces across the board. That along with his much discussed improvisational skills were the key selling points from the media and our front office.

I sincerely hope he and Canales are putting heavy emphasis on Bryce's footwork because defenses already know what's coming since that's all over the tape. We can't hide from it.

If the Panthers pick in the top 10 again they should absolutely be looking at QBs next year. No team with a good Oline, RB and 2 consecutive 1st round WRs should be sub .500 in the modern NFL. Even Payton won a ton of games with bad Ds. It's year 3 and the excuses need to end. Next years QB draft compared to this years is why you take a swing when it's worth swinging at.

It’s so weird to see people complaining about putting better players on the team when we all complained the whole time Cam Newton was here about not properly building around him. Remember that time Cam had some shitty players on OL in the Super Bowl? Go figure, MVP of the league even looks bad when he’s getting pummeled all game. And Cam never had an OL that even sniffed the incompetence of the 2023 OL. I’ve never seen so many plays with immediate free rushers up the middle. But let’s somehow make improving THAT unit and the worst WR corps in the league an indictment on the QB.

Could anyone here try and imagine BY stats with Philly fuggin Brown as his top WR????

Nah Cam was just special and still bothers me Shula dumbass wouldn't change game plan to win us a SB. (Sorry for bringing that up in this thread)

Cam did have Olsen, so there’s that, but yeah I’m very happy to see the FO take building the offense seriously and was somewhat worried before the draft that they thought it was good enough. Love the Tmac pick and what it does for our WRs.

Yeah Cam never got the Oline that we invested in last year. But Greg Olsen, CMC and Stewart are better than any players we got on the roster at the moment until proven otherwise. Plus that Luke led defense could get turnovers and stops.

The biggest thing for Bryce this year is the coaching continuity IMO. Don't get me wrong if he shits the bed this year we have to move on we don't want a Daniel Jones situation

He had Olsen then we drafted Funchess and Benjamin in rounds 1 and 2 in consecutive years. Interior OL of Turner, Kalil, and Norwell was pretty great. Stewart was a solid RB, and honestly we tried with Matt Kalil and drafted Greg Little in the 2nd. We seemed to try but definitely failed to build around him. Benjamin mentally checked out, Funchess busted, Matt Kalil struggled, Greg Little busted. We did get lucky with Norwell and Oher was decent until he had concussion issues.

Not to mention his rookie year he had Gross, Kalil, Wharton, Hangartner, Williams, Stewart, 89, Olsen, and Shockey. Looking at what Bryce had his rookie season in comparison is laughable.
