important perspective to have. as easy as the schedule is, it could take 2-3 games for it to start clicking for the young and new ones.

Bryce Young has pretty much been the definition of a slower starter going into every season.  I frankly don't like the fact the "easy" games are upfront.

plus, the flip side is the Jags are talking about us just like we are them.  And I think they have more proven explosive offensive players.  I think at best, it's a coin flip opener.  Jags probably will be favored by Vegas.

oh i'm sure the jags will be favored, but it's mainly just based on optics. nothing substantive at this point. i mean how could it be anything but that?

it is funny to hear jags fans talk about this game being a gimme for them. do they need to be reminded that the second half of the season last year the only games they won were against the titans. while they picked up hunter in the draft...i mean is that one guy going to be THE difference between winning and losing this year?

who else did they pick up? dynami brown? ok...nice pick up, but again...is it enough to drastically turn things around? also, trevor lawrence. when was the last impressive game he had?

and with a new coach? i just don't see any reason for much optimism.

the Jaguars are basically the Panthers. Bad D.  Inconsistent O.  But I think they are a more threatening O.

Rookie season? He had zero MFL experience and bad coaching

Season 2? He took the off-season off to hang w/ family and friends and play video games and not think football. Plus, getting used to a New coach

But Dave knew what he was doing. Sat Bryce down, worked on fundamentals (footwork, timing), designed plays that worked with Bryces style and abilities. Was a different Bryce coming off the bench. Everybody saw the improvements

This past off-season? Bryce was working with TMac before the draft even happened. More football-focused. Head is in the game it seems

I dont think Bryce will be as slow as starter this coming season as qe saw in yr 1 and 2.

both had a common theme though (loudly discussed here going into both seasons), unusually light work going into both seasons given what he was.....

again, Mahomes, Allen, etc were getting more preseason reps than Young.

I hope Canales plays him a lot in this preseason.   3 good NFL games vs the rest of his resume shouldn't put him in the light work tier he has been going into prior seasons with

You guys are expecting/hyping too much for this team as usual. All it take is 1 or 2 key injuries and this team could finish with a worse record than last year. But the offseason is where dreams are made and I certainly do not want to burst your bubble before the season even starts.

That sounds a lot like our story though. We picked up a 1st round WR and a lot of hopes and prayers.

We need some miracles for this D to be significantly better.

To be fair, your definition of "good NFL game" varies from QB to QB.

    • I believe I just read somewhere that the Rams don't do Top 30 Visits. I mean, it makes sense from the standpoint of trying to keep information close to the vest.
    • I'm not sure 19 is too high for Rodriguez anymore.  He looks to be moving up boards, but it could be smokescreens.
    • I see XL this way---great athlete.  Good person.  When we drafted him, we knew he was raw.  One year of WR in college (starting) and in HS, he was a QB, I believe. We knew we would need patience with him.  I think year 3 will be make or break.  He is older, and I think that people with his athletic ability have always been better than those with less---but those with less can become more successful.  Why is that?  in my view, it is mental. XL can learn the mechanics and nuances of playing WR if he becomes focused on it and works at it.  I had the opportunity to talk to Armanti Edwards one day after OTAs (great guy) and he discussed how overwhelming it was.  He seemed shocked.  At that time, I knew that Fox hated the pick (I heard him mock Armanti to another coach when he saw Edwards drop a punt from a jugs machine--then I saw Armanti look back at Fox as if to suggest that he was feeling the pressure to please the coach. We forget that these are kids in their early 20s.  At the time, Fox was a lame duck.  Remember when he had Clausen as the #3 QB and was forced to move him up the ladder?  I liked Fox, but I think the climate and culture was influenced by the politics.  Currently, I see another Wr from SC who is struggling, but he is ina  very nurturing, positive culture. Let's see what happens with XL.  I am frustrated too---but XL was a second round talent who was raw and we traded up to get him.  He had 500 yards as a rookie--lets call 2025 a sophomore slump and see if we can't get at least 50 yards per game out of him.  If not, cut bait.
