We don't wear the blacks until the last 1/3 of the season anyways.  And even then it's only certain games.  It might as well be an alternate.

New uniforms would’ve been announced before the draft so that the rookie can take all his pictures with them. There’s zero chance it’s brand a new uniform. 
 

I also remember seeing somewhere that Tepper and co like the current sets and plan to make very minimal changes if needed, hence why we’ve been playing around with the jersey and pant combos.

I do think updated uniforms are happening one way or another within the next few years. But I would say we should hope for more of a tweak here and there versus new uniforms from top to bottom. The track record for teams that underwent a complete uniform refresh seems to be either underwhelming or outright trash looking back the last decade or two.

Kinda like the metallic/matte finish that some teams have gone with recently

on the other hand, while I like the 70's movie Rollerball, the number style from that film doesn't hold up for today. Hope we're not going down that path

I have solved the mystery.  

First, the Panthers posted the claw marks. 

NOW, Charlotte FC tweeted the thunderstorm emoji and folks are doing the same what does it mean thing. 

Answer is simple. 

Ripped up material + thunderstorms = new concert series coming to BOA.  Cher is opening up for AC/DC! #artificialturfforthewin!
