It's a preseason game, but...losing is not an option.

As far as a grade on the overall work this team got to put in.

D+

One decent drive for the starters vs Browns scrubs.  That’s literally all the good.  And you got to ding that unit for getting smashed their first drive by Browns backups….and then your starting WR being a complete idiot on your one drive.

D was horrible

ST horrible

O horrible minus that one drive horrible and uneven work (zero run game)

Hard to have a lot confidence in where Dave has us at this stage.  Plus the entire NFL world will be talking about a 5th round QB with no real camp work being the best thing on the field as what happened tonight

If a 9-play, 73-yard touchdown drive is "decent," what's "good"? One play, 105 yards?

It’s our starters…. vs 2nd and 3rd stringers.    And it wasn’t like we just ran them off the field.    So yeah you gotta keep all that in perceptive.   So yeah, decent work.  Starters couldn’t even keep their composure on it too.  You can’t rate that drive that high.  It was fine.  That’s not my definition of good.  Only real good opportunity would have been some quick big play TD vs dudes who shouldn’t be on the field with you.

Well, I will say that I don't see how anyone can really feel good about the team's performance tonight. Of course I said there was literally nothing that they can do to get me excited during preseason. But there are things they can do to make me less excited. Shake my head.

I think that's a reasonable expectation for a perennial title contender. For a cellar-dweller, you set the bar too high and you constantly are disappointed. It was a great drive that led to a TD. It had a 30-yard bomb from Bryce to Tet and a third-down conversion for a TD.

The Magic 8 ball says another season of talking draft before Halloween is highly likely. Just no way to sugarcoat it, we looked like poo outside of the TD drive.

It’s amazing the hoops people continue to jump through about preseason. How many years in a row have we seen it? It’s obvious to anyone with eyes as to whether or not we look good or bad. Sure, the final score doesn’t really matter and tons of players won’t even make the team but when you say your a running offense, your first carry over 6 yards should be earlier than garbage time late in the 4th for a RB who won’t even make the PS.

Again, preseason final score doesn’t matter but I won’t think about the playoffs until this team actually shows they can win more than 5 games.

We won’t win many more games if the defense still can’t stop anyone.  Glad the first team offense got a TD though.

True, but let's be real: the two best players on defense weren't even out there, but the run defense (at least in the first quarter) was better than we saw all of last season, albeit against relative nobodies. As for the other quarters, we knew that depth was a concern, so it shouldn't be totally surprising that we got rolled up. I thought that Dalton would be way more effective.

so go ahead & do yourself a favor &  quit watching all these Carolina Panthers hype videos on YouTube  all the time . if not, then you are going to be even more disappointed in this teams performance this year

this current roster from a talent perspective alone in comparison to the other NFL teams is honestly somewhere in between the 27 to 30 range

7-10 record this season is a huge huge success for this team right now  & no I do NOT actually think tha this team will win  7 or more games this season   ...just saying

"Smashed by backups" is a weird way to describe a drive with a 4yd run to start, then the open RB drops the pass on second down, and a 3rd string guard misses an assignment on third down.

Bryce looked good. TMac flashed. COKER. No injuries. Corey Thornton is for real. Now to see who responds vs Houston!

    • Yeah, Franklin was a good ST guy that could fill in at safety IN AN EMERGENCY. But he was still better than Scott, IMO.
    • I get that, but given his college production, his actual skill set, and what he's shown in camp, he really just seems like the only way he doesn't at least play to his floor is if he can't stay healthy or he just gets a huge head and stops putting in the effort, the latter of which I don't see happening. So hopefully he stays healthy (knock on wood), but there's unfortunately no way of predicting health, you can really only predict a player not able to stay healthy if they already had problems doing so in college.
    • In it self no it's not a bad thing. It becomes an issue when they brought back Austin to play on IR most of the season again. That's not a knock on Mays but the situation. It's BC at LG all over. But on the flip side that's how they were forced to go out and sign a good LG the next year.  All of the talk and hope of improvement comes down to guys like Mays taking that step. There is something developmentally going on that Im not impressed with going on with this team. Austin and Dalton were 2 guys they obviously can't lean on at this point and yet both are still here taking up space.
