XL basically had one season of production. TMac had multiple. We knew Legette was going to be a work in progress when we drafted him.

If you folks had all this patience for Bryce and still do as a third year player idk why you harp so bad on Xavier before he's even played a single snap in the regular season of his second year.

Well comparing a QB and a WR is a lot different. 1st round WR’s are expected to make an impact immediately. Plus, most people didn’t have patience for Young.. Reminder when he was struggling? The pitchforks were out. Only his play on the field changed people’s opinions.  XL was a first round pick. He needs to perform. Plain and simple. No more excuses.

I'm not comparing positions I'm saying young players adjusting and struggling is common. One is a first overall pick the other is basically a second rounder who we all knew would need time to develop. There were no people on the Bryce train before the draft blaring over a loudspeaker that Bryce Young would need nearly 3 seasons and elite weapons across the offense to look serviceable.

Not saying it'll happen as he has developing to do and has tough competition on the depth chart to even get the opportunity, but I think he's more likely to become a Victor Cruz caliber receiver for us than to be released in the next few years. Unlikely for sure but still more likely than us just getting rid of him for nothing for no reason. Dude was an absolute diamond in the rough last year and was easily our 2nd best offensive weapon behind Chuba.

If he plays well this year he will be owed a decent contract.  Money is the only thing I could see as a reason for him to leave with XL and TMac on that 1st round contracts.

Right, he needs to get back out there ASAP or else he is at high risk of being cut. It would be awful to lose Horn or Moore or Coker in order to keep Renfrow only to have him be on the DL most of the season.

First of all, Dan and Dave ostensibly know what they're doing, and, second, if Renfrow (or anyone) gets as bad as y'all are hypothesizing, then there's the IR. Renfrow isn't the type of receiver to simply be discounted over an injury that the team is being cautious with during preseason.

Coker has already established himself, and I don't think that he's going to be jettisoned to keep anyone. Moore is a journeyman with established ties to the organization.

As for Horn, he's not a lock to make the team. He's a rookie trying to make the team that has done some good things in practice, but is still down the depth chart because he needs development.

At the end of the day, I trust Dan and Dave to do what's right for the team. They're the ones with a clear view of the big picture.

Can't help but laugh at some of the opinions I've seen lately that he could be an odd man out based on his "slow" camp so far. Not sure he'll get top 3 WR time yet but he's a lock for the roster and strong favorite for #4 with potential to pass Thielen too.

Yeah, I’ve been surprised by this.  No way Coker is cut.  So much of his advanced stats last year bore out that he was one of the top of WRs of the class of 2024, and he wasn’t even drafted.  He’s a key piece of our young WR core.  I think Moore is the odd man out with Jimmy Horn Jr. taking his spot.

Expectations from younger fans is just insane.

While we all want an instant impact from first round players, regardless of position,  there is still a transition to the NFL, not to mention their development.

XL has the best day of the receivers, and fans complain that he's not catching it away from his body, with his hands.

First of, he's catching them. That requires hands.

Second,  should we ask the QB to not throw the ball less accurately?

This place just gets so damn insufferable.

After our impotent DL play last year, that clip of Cam Jackson dump trucking an OL made my britches tighten.

That was Bucky Williams, Austin Peay transfer to App State. He's a camp body at this point, even though he did road grade Texas A&M in 2022.

Qb is a lot harder to learn and a lot bigger jump in difficulty from college to nfl.  Also Bryce had lots of good college seasons to see what he was able to do.  Also a lot of us had these concerns about XL before he was drafted (i have some really big concerns with tmac too) but hopefully he gets it together and is great this season.

    • Short version = these people have had those seats since the beginning and haven't missed a game. They have always had their sign. They had to change the sign - I think in 2015 when Cam ripped that Packers fan's banner down (love him for that, by the way) - to be compliant and haven't had any issues in the last 10 years. The Panthers even used a photo of them and their sign in their album from the Falcons game. In the 3rd quarter last weekend it was decided that the sign needed to come down. Seems weird and unnecessary, especially since it has been there for every game for a decade.   Also "cringe" is a funny word for someone over the age of 18 who lives and overshares on the Huddle. But, ok....
    • Just watched those buc Hawks highlights and good lord....both of them were slinging the ball around. Its definitely a talent issue, I dont know how anybody thinks bryce is just gonna go to another team and start doing that.
    • Thielen was traded away right before our season started. Coker got hurt right before our season started. Renfrow, a player that hasn't played in a while went from cut to being thrust onto the field. Moore, the one vet we did keep, is currently out. Bad things seem to happen trying to throw to XL. Oh, and Tremble was out for a few weeks while Sanders is currently out himself.  Simply starting the fact that we can't even keep a #2 on the field. You're hoping one of the many rookies pulls off a Coker and starts having consistent production.
