I get the jokes but us saying no to DK for a 2nd shows there are limits.

I wasn't joking. The Bengals want a high end player plus a high draft pick back. So if no high end player is going back to them they are going to want two or more high draft picks for him. He wants to be a top paid edge so it's going to take 38-41m per to sign him long term.

So the price tag to get him would be multiple firsts or first and second and a 38m+ contract.

We really can't afford to pay that kind of price tag.

Not to mention, by the time we are likely to have this roster turned around enough to win, Hendrickson will likely be close to retirement.

What the Bengals want is ~1/3 of the equation, and that is shrinking by the day. What Hendrickson and the team they would trade him to wants is quickly acquiring leverage.

They technically have until the trade deadline and reality is that they could acquire more suitors as injuries or issues pile up.

It really just depends on how deep they want to go.

Not sure why anybody would be against this. We need the talent,  production,  and leadership.

Anyone who says he doesn't fit,  sorry, impact players always find a way to succeed and exceed.

Because at 30 (he'll turn 31 on December 5th) he's likely to be past his prime before this team is ready to meaningfully compete all the while it's draining us of cap space and depriving us of draft capital to add younger talent. It's just not a smart move for this organization at this time, but it's the exact type of move we've been making the entire Tepper era where we're more than happy to shoot ourselves in the dick for the future while trying to squeeze 5-6 wins out of a 3-4 win roster. Just brilliant.
