Best and worst PFF grades from Panthers' preseason loss to Texans

I don't remember if it was Tremble but last year one of them remarked that it was the first year the tight ends were treated like wide receivers and taught how to actually play the position and how to get open versus shuffle downfield 5 yards and turn around.

Was scared to open this tbh

Me, too. I was expecting to see some single digit scores there.

Still, really glad to see Tremayne make the list. He played very well while he was in there. Big guy. And good grades for our ILBs. We need some hope there, even if they are second and third stringers.

That QB room, though. It's going to need realignment by next season if not sooner.

TE is usually pretty tough at first. Give Sanders a chance to grow I'm sure there will be plenty of growing pains along the way TE isn't the easiest position to play

Greg Olsen got shipped off by Chicago to us because they didn't realize the time involved in making the transition.

Martz didn't value the tight end position so he saw Olsen as expendable. Gregg came in here as a first round draft pick who was underused and immediately started connecting with Cam. Honestly I wanted to draft him in the first round when he went to Chicago.

Yep, I was pissed we drafted Beason that year instead of Olsen. I wanted Olsen. Fast forward a couple years and we end up with both and both were great players.

I didnt like the Beason pick or the Kuechly pick at the time. Thought we had other more pressing needs.

Certainly would like to have an ILB of that caliber on this team, though.

It's definitely ironic that in a year where we maybe have the deepest WR room in franchise history, we probably have the weakest inside LBs, a position historically we've been strong at.

With so much of the focus the past couple years being on offense, the defense has definitely taken a backseat to the talent available in the draft. I get it, they want to surround their number one draft pick QB with offensive playmakers but unfortunately that has come with a price that so far has not worked

Let’s hope the offense and Bryce Young put it together this year or it’s going to be another rebuild next year with another new QB.

God, he looked completely useless early on as a rookie. I mean, complete and utter bust status but really did improve quickly before that hellacious hit derailed his season. Hopefully he can bounce back and keep developing.

What happened to Sanders? It's like that injury against KC knocked him into a prolonged slump.

Just hasn't been the same player since then.

I'll say this until it's pointless to say, but we should have taken Tyler Warren in the draft. Receivers are a dime a dozen. TE's like Warren come around every five years or less. He's a generational talent, and can effectively play multiple positions on offense.

Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.

Everyone saying "but we have Sanders".

As far as TE goes I pretty much expect to be disappointed. When was the last time we even drafted a productive TE? Kris Mangum in 1997? Woof.

And then we pass on Warren, a true blue chip guy. He may not do much until Indianapolis gets a quarterback but he's as close to Kelci for not being Kelci that I've seen.
