Sporters reporters forecast Panthers record

I want Hubbard to have like 25 carries.

4 of our 5 wins were basically the result of Hubbard being the primary cog of the O.   That’s how we win.  I don’t need Canales thinking week 18 is where he and Bryce needs thier heads

Running game wasn't the problem at all last year and we've added much more to that room.

As much as I want to see this team win some games early I do not want to see a herculean effort from Chuba or the rest of the run game to achieve it. We've got a lot tied up in the passing game and ultimately that's why we hired Canales.

I want to win the game. If Hubbard needs 35 carries, lets go.........  or if 10 will do it, great !!

Dave...... he just needs to do what it takes to win this week and worry about week 18 that week.

That's not what we bought with Bryce or Canales though. We could have kept Wilks all along if we just wanted to be a ground and pound until the wheels fall off offense.

I thought the goal was to join modern offenses, while winning?? Wilkis could have won that ATL game and he would have the job I feel. Just choked after winning enough to get in the playoff race.

Besides you must have a real tough defense in order to ground and pound.....its been....gosh I don't know when the last time Panthers had a reliable unit to trust with a close score...... it hurts my football soul...

Obviously it would have to be like a season from Final Destination for them.  But those do happen.

Tampa was the defending SB Champions in 2003 and Sports Illustrated said our best chance to win the division was to move to the ACC.

And nothing Final Destination like happened that year (although the blocked XP in Week 2 was close). We just caught some breaks, played solid defense, and had the offense slowly gel over the season. We really were a 8-8 type team that got lucky a lot before turning it on in the playoffs and almost winning it all.

Anything for the most part can happen in the NFL.

I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if this team won 11 games. I also think 7 could happen as much as I hate to think about it.

But I'm going to enjoy it. This team is significantly better on offense than it has been in quite a few years.

The pass rush still worries me (as does Evero's scheme overall), but it would be hard to be more decimated by injuries on that side of the ball than we did last year.

That's kinda what Canales wants to do. In 2023 the Bucs ran the ball horribly (3.4ypc) and they still ran the ball league average attempt wise.

He wants to run the ball, establish the los and use play action passing to help the QB by limiting reads.

Most of the passing plays off play action will have max protect and 2-3 guys in route. 1 check down, 1 deep route, and/or 1 intermediate route.

We went out and invested what $150 million in two interior olinemen in FA last year? That makes any RB better.

To me. Canales will take that next as a head coach step via our identity in the structure of his passing scheme. That's what I want to see and what will make me feel better for the future regardless of what happens with QB.

I'm just telling you what to expect.

30-40 runs a game

20-25 passes a game if everything goes to plan. Of course that gets skewed of the team sucks and is always trailing but that's what id expect.

Sure, but we know this pass game is not likely what should be emphasized early.  Meh preseason, youth/new, big WR shake up going in, and out your left tackle.

so a winnable week 1 game should be Hubbard heavy IMO.

I think people might be selling Dowdle short though. I get we paid Hubbard all that money and we need to see a return on the investment but Rico should be plenty capable behind this OL.

I'm fine with that. Just want to see Canales and his QB orchestrate some game winning drives.

I think it should always be a take what the defense gives you. If they start stacking the box to stop the run then we have to be able to air it out to keep them honest.

You aren’t lying about the investment in the passing game though. The Bryce trade followed by back to back 1st round WRs. Plus bringing in DC like you mentioned. At some point that passing game should be a strength as well.
