Where does Bryce rank as a draft bust?

A lot of yall dont watch ball for real. This game was not on Bryce.  When was the last time a QB looked pro bowl status in a Panthers uniform?

It wasn’t all on Bryce but you can confidently say allot of it was.  The throw away in the endzone when Sanders was wide open.  The under throw to Renfrow, the interception when he could have just ran the ball for 1 yard when no one was within 10 yards of him.  To say this game was not on Bryce is a bit ingenious, to say it’s not all on Bryce is fair, the D still can’t stop the run be he himself left 14 points on the field plus dumb turnovers.

Not just going off this game, and it's not typically just one players fault...(but he was god awful in this game, saying anything else is having rose colored glasses on tight)

But Reich, Fitterer, and Tepper didn't seem to mind it. In fact, that "long-winded" answer turned out to be a big plus.

"At one point, Scott and I and Mr. Tepper kind of made eye contact, like, 'This is crazy,'" Reich said. "He got into how he was studying the film, and some of the things he said about that. I looked at Mr. Tepper; he looked at Scott. It was like, this is next-level stuff.

"And listen, we've all been around, and we've all heard good stuff. The other guys said good stuff too. But this was just at a level that was different."

It's true. Most had him #1 overall or at worst the #1 QB. 

 

Only one I can think of that didn't was BR. They had him 16th overall and the third QB. 

 

PFF had him #1, NFL advisory board had him #1. Panthers and Texans both had him #1. 

 

 

Dunno how, never got it myself because I had him rated lower than BR did at around 18th and QB #4. I really didn't like him coming out and the reasons why (not his just size, but his processing, happy feet in the pocket and needing to be off schedule to look good) have shown up repeatedly in the NFL so far.

More concerned with his table manners than how he would actually translate to the NFL.

Don't let these people off the hook either. The hype machine for this kid before the draft was one of the craziest things I've ever seen.

I have worked with many an incompetent or willfully shitty employee that when I asked their supervision/management about them claimed they crushed the interview.

My second manager instilled something in me that to this day I remember.   "stand on your work".   Look at what they have done and not what they tell you they have done.   Your body of work is more important then your interview or demeanor.  It just is. And this clown show doesnt seem to get that.

 

I mean XL had 4 years of absolutely dogshit performance but hey man he is funny and from the country

The more I watch this train wreck yet over year, game by game, it’s clear as day Tepper is still the one making decisions behind the scenes. Football operations had never been this woeful under Richardson. Tepper is still pulling the strings and this bad football stinks of it.

I 100% agree. I haven't prepped for an interview in years. I say what is on my mind and they see the body of work. You either like it or you don't. Two times in my 20+ year career I have finished second in an interview process to a "very polished" interview candidate. I have been lucky enough to run across both the hiring managers in my travels(and after career ascending) afterwards and ask how those hires went. I always end up laughing at them and saying, "Well know you know the value of an interview, don't you?"

The trade up to get XL and the "fifth year option" will forever be seared into my mind as a singularly stupid Panthers FO blunder. You are so giddy about how great this pick is that you have to get that 5th year so you can save money on this future HOF WR, huh? Meanwhile, XL is making more squirrel skinning videos on TikTok in the locker room.

We traded our WR1 and what became 1.01 in a loaded QB draft for him.  That being attached to his career makes it so much worse than it should feel.
