Dan Orlovsky on Bryce Young

Okay so he and we are acknowledging that Bryce is still making mistakes and not recognizing basic coverages in his third season. So what does he do to prepare? Remember before the draft the entire hype around him revolved around not only his ability to improvise when the play breaks down on the field but his dedication to preparation off the field in the film room. So if all of this is happening and his footwork is still anywhere between mediocre and horrific in any given play what is he doing in the offseason and in between games? This and his elite processing was supposed to be his key selling point. Then leadership was the sprinkle on top and let's be honest that's lacking at best too. So what is it that Bryce Young excels at in any phase of the game right now?....

Hes great at getting us top 10 picks...

It’s weird some are just acknowledging his footwork like a new thing. The lateral skip, hop and turn/hitch is and has always been his thing.

I think he’s trying to correct it but hasn’t and has a weird muscle memory thing going on.

how do you correct it at 5'10 and you have literally done it since high school

It's not a surprise that Dan Orlovsky has just now noticed BY's horrific footwork and other deficiencies, when other more accomplished QB-turned-analysts pointed them out since practically day one.

His drops are so slow. There’s no urgency to getting to his back foot.

with that said, it’d be criminal to not acknowledge these facts that aren’t helping him.

Nijman starting at LT

Corbett forgetting how to snap

The lack or urgency from everybody getting in and out of the huddle resulting in the play clock nearly hitting zero every play (this has been a reoccurring theme for Canales-Bryce-Dalton)  im not sure where this is coming from but it needs to be urgently fixed.  The defensive line doesn’t have to worry about a headcount and is just jumping at zero, blowing up the line in the process

Legette being an absolute liability in everything he does.

80% of guys with foundational issues coming out of college that are actually NFL size can't get it corrected lol. I honestly enjoyed watching PJ walker more as far as smaller qb's go. At least he could launch it from pure natural athletic ability. Plus he gave better press conferences and had a cool underdog story

I haven’t paid attention to ESPN for years now, so I didn’t know Dan was a fan.  But, considering how he ended that video, I was a little perturbed with his optimistic ending because you literally just showed him throw to get the receiver smoked multiple times, being completely unaware of the defender lurking - both in the pick and the last throw to Renfrow.  How many times does a guy have to do that for it to not be considered “not characteristic” anymore?  Bc Bryce has been doing it for 3 years now.

Those trash QBs must stick together, it’s like a brotherhood of failure.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, but I also see it from the player angle too. Dan probably feels like it breaks the brotherhood code as a former player to completely roast a  current young player.  It hurts Bryce’s ability with future teams and  his possible future outlook. The Panthers can be done, but don’t send him to the grave without the chance of a reclamation project.

It’s largely because XL is in the doghouse.   It’s like the 3 Renfrow balls.   Blaming him is just comically bad takes.  Renfrow set Bryce up for 2 big plays….he couldn’t make the throws though and thanked him with a hospital ball.

Renfrow won’t last the year. Renfrow while tiny and high IQ… is a baller.  He will put his tiny frame out there.  Bryce will end his comeback

So sad but true. I was amazed how he got up from that duck ball and big hit.
