Solid Breakdown of Bryce's Poor Performance/PFF Stuff

All of you who keep posting up these PFF numbers, this is why I don't pay much attention if any to all that stuff.  Give me the real stats!  Give me the real performance of a player.  Stop all this moneyball stuff.  The A's never won anything on that stuff.  If I 'm not mistaken, we probably got former PFF employees in our scouting department.  And the results of that seem to be showing.

we have a bunch of PFF people at Carolina now in the analytics department.  A bunch of old articles about how valuable those folks have been to Dan Morgan in shaping the team the past 2 years.

Analytics certainly has it's place.   But I think it can also be taken to hogwash levels in sports.

Ohh big time throws is a PFF generated stat. They use it in their grading system and it's been around since thr 2010s. Damn no wonder PFF was always all over the place. It's completely subjective and presented as a fact lol

So more people to fire when this crew gets the boot is what I am hearing. It makes the PFF grades more understandable too.

It's strange that folks are still caught up on BTTs when the methodology has been shared and we have the game film to back it.

This isn't to say PFF is without fault. Their are definitely instances where a grade is questionable, but I've found that more often than not that the film backs the grade.

I'm hoping to get through the all-22 for the defense today so I can see what they saw that I didn't in regards to Moehrig. I'm still in denial over his grade, but I've seen a couple of clips as well where he was out of position (and another where a Jags player put him on his ass with a chip).

    • Andy started to fall apart in 2018 with a torn thumb ligament and only had one 3k+ year after that, 2019. Not all QBs can play until 40 but a non-running QB falling apart at 32 is a bit surprising. He hit that cliff hard by 2020.
    • Wait until Tucker Kraft and Love try out those seams yeeee doggie
    • The team waived defensive tackle Jaden Crumedy and signed outside linebacker Trevis Gipson off the 49ers practice squad. The 28-year-old Gipson has appeared in 59 games during his career, with 11.0 sacks. He was most recently active with the 49ers, playing in three games and recovering a fumble. Originally a fifth-round pick of the Bears out of Tulsa, he's also spent time with the Jaguars and Seahawks. They also brought back rookie offensive tackle Michael Tarquin to the practice squad. He was here throughout the offseason and training camp and was released from the practice squad last week. To make room for him, they released practice squad cornerback Michael Reid. https://www.panthers.com/news/panthers-make-a-change-on-defense-add-outside-linebacker-trevis-gipson
