We’re never gonna have explosive pass plays with Bryce as QB, and it will be tough to get explosive runs because the box is usually stacked bc of Bryce.

I surprisingly disagree here. Last year we had a lot of explosive plays.

Bryce had anticipation and threw WRs open. If someone that guy is somewhere in the sack of poo that Bryce has been this year then we have a shot. But I think it’s maybe a 5% chance at this point.

Explosive diarrhea though, not a problem after watching BY for four quarters.

What you are seeing, I think, is confirmation that he can’t turn it on at will.

He randomly strings together some impressive plays and then randomly goes back to coach killer. It just sort of happens. I guess he wakes up as good Bryce one day, but then he sleeps again and you don’t know what you’re getting the next morning.

I think it’s worth noting that a lot of those teams that he had “explosive plays” against last season didn’t have much to play for.  It’s bad teams and teams that don’t have much to gain or lose that Bryce flashes occasionally against.  It’s like the Cardinals 2nd half this season.  If there is any sort of pressure or consequence, like if the game matters or the opponent is good or has something to lose, he isn’t worth a poo.

Rico 10000% saved Bryce Young from being benched for the Dallas game.  The way that game was going there was going to be no way to trot Bryce out next week at home if it kept going like it did.

Bryce probably is safe from bench risk until the next home and home presents itself.    He can’t be playing bad going into that next Atl game and then lay an egg in it.

You took the thought right out of my head. We're a broken-winged offense.

I think the run defense has bordered on great the entire year. If we could stop passes between the hashes, the D could be good

The offense can help them by getting a lead. I mean it was the Falcons but 0 points? That doesn’t happen in the NFL very often.

I know the Falcons shot themselves in the foot multiple ways but the defense played a part in that 0.

The NFL these days, teams are a work in progress for at least the first half of the year. We should see improvement continue for a little while. Throw Luke into any defense it is improved but this one is just waiting for that guy. A guy that could be like, Luke light, Temu Luke,  would be a huge shot in the arm.

    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
    • This thread is dumb. But I do think canales gets too cute with play calling and I don't think he's a good coach
    • 2 bad teams played yesterday and one lost. Both teams are still bad today. Bryce is a big part of that. It wouldn't have been a close game if DC would have just gone rage rushing from the start.  The Panthers would look so much better with just decent WB play. No way to avoid that fact.
