I was gonna say the exact opposite. A gimped up Bryce is likelu to produce a near career worst game. With Dalton at least there is some hope of NFL caliber QB play.

I get it. I’m not claiming Bryce is good by any means. But I feel Andy is washed at this point. Hope he proves me wrong Sunday. I’ll be cheering my ass off for him

They run the ball a lot, 30 times a game on average and Allen is averaging 240 yards a game. They are leaning heavily on the run game and play action passing.

Their defense is really weak against the run and strong against the pass.

Run the ball effectively and make it a low possession game with a low score to have a chance to win late.

The Panthers run defense is, dare I say, good. If the Bills haven’t changed anything during the bye, the Panthers could easily win this game. If the Bills actually addressed their offensive issues when they can’t run the ball, they may win by 20. The thing is that they have done a poor job of building around Josh, in my opinion.

His Super Man plays alone could keep the game close if they can’t run but, in the end, I actually think the Panthers win here. It’s a home game, Andy Dalton should bring some juice to the passing game. Their defense has holes everywhere and we have Dowdle and Canales going off in the running game.

Give me Panthers, 27-24. Down 24-20 with 2 minutes left, Dalton finds 15 for a 38 yard touchdown with 22 seconds remaining but the Bills are forced to account for the run because the Panthers still have two timeouts. Bills get into FG range but miss a 57 yard attempt to tie the game.

people begin to doubt Josh Allen without actually looking at what the Bills have put around him, and how their defense is just melting.

It would be a great story if Dalton could pull off the win

I think he will be better than healthy Bryce and considerably better than gimped Bryce.

Just realize that's a low bar. Don't expect Prime Cam.

I predict we have to get away from the run game early.  Dalton with 326 yards passing, XL with 125 yards receiving and 2 TD.

Panthers 42

Bills 35

Dude, even if the Panthers go down 14, you don’t abandon the run game with Dowdle going against the Bills defense.

Panthers aren’t getting a ton of national buzz right now but it’s not like the teams they have beaten are chumps. Shutting out the Falcons is massive, beating the Cowboys is not a small thing, going on a 27-7 run against the Dolphins isn’t nothing, going on a 19-0 run against the Cardinals with an opportunity to win it at the end isn’t nothing. I fully believe that the Panthers could be 5-2 right now if they don’t forget to play football in Arizona in the first quarter.

The Bills are good, because of Josh Allen, period. He is all they have, and that’s very good but not good enough to beat good teams on the road. The media will blame him but I still think he’s the best QB in the NFL right now. Give him a Derrick Henry, give him an Andy Reid and all of those receivers, etc. and things would get absolutely insane.

Andy Dalton is still a better, and more efficient operator of the offense than Prime Cam in every year except 2015. We got to watch Dalton and Cam come along together and Andy’s numbers almost always blew Cam’s out of the water.

It isn’t 2024, and we shouldn’t have to see Andy play from 24 down by the second quarter. You also have the emergence of Dowdle, Tet is playing well, XL seems to play better with Andy, and Canales has hit his groove.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Andy threw for 220 and Dowdle had another 150 yards of total offense.

If you only factor passing, there is a VERY mild argument Dalton is more efficient but it's ignoring the threat Cam was as a big play literally every snap. With his feet OR through the air. Dalton was never that type of player.

I would say Dalton over 200 is a very safe bet.

I think it will be close. Won’t be a blow out. Their pass defense is Top 3 but their rush defense is the worst other than the Cowboys. If Canales will feed Rico and use that to set up Dalton on deep play actions we can move the ball.

Defensively, I’m not worried about Cook. We just have to keep Allen contained. The only person I think can do that is Moehrig, if he can give him the old Thomas Davis/Mike Vick treatment.

This is probably a 28-23 or 31-27 type game either way.

If we keep this "every other" RB nonsense going, it is liable to get ugly for us early. Ride Dowdle and put them in a hole early.

Is their pass defense good because their rush defense is so bad though? People thought we had a good defense in 2023 because our pass defense was so good. Turns out teams just didn't pass on us because it was easier to just run all over us.

Weirdly think there's a better chance we pull off the upset with Dalton. Canales might call some plays that he didn't trust Bryce with, and if we can get a halfway decent Dalton game (and run the hell out of the ball), I think we can stay in it.

The Bills offense seems like hot garbage this year and then gets hot in spurts. Josh's scrambling is the biggest issue, if we can contain Cook.

    • I thought this presented an interesting point. It is fair to wonder now, about switching the two QBs as so many tried to do that first year where Bryce was trash and CJ looked great.  It is almost the reverse scenario now and I wonder what CJ would look like here with better weapons better coaching and better protection. Overall, compared year one.  If each player had been in the other place for the three years. I would love to see CJ with this team now.  Just to see.
    • I really have no clue what to expect sunday.  To quote one of my favorite bands of all time, Operation Ivy "All I know is that I dont know".  We could win, hell we could win convincingly, we also could lose in blowout fashion.  We could be in a back and forth game with whoever has the ball last winning.  I legit HAVE NO CLUE.  This isnt the dominant bills teams of the past, Allen is still elite and can win any game by himself.  That said, heres my stab at looking at things. Our defense is made to stop this kind of team.  Strong against the run, a great corner but meh talent around the field.  We've stopped prolific run offenses this season.   Javonte Williams - Season low yards and ypa against us. De'Von Achane - Season low yards and ypa against us Breece hall - 3rd worst yards in a game Fact of the matter is, we arent what we were last year, we are a good run defense and that lines up well against the bills, Stop the run.  For once the lack of moving Jaycee might be a good thing, he will essentially lock down a side and without multiple real weapons thats fine.  Buffalo does not have an elite guy, theyve got a gaggle of average dudes.  Allen will stay away from Jaycee, it will be on Mike Jack and Chau Smith Wade do to their part and they will be matched with guys they can play at the level of. On offense, we do what the bills are bad at.  We run the ball well, and they suck at stopping the run.  Rico and Chuba will need 30 carries.  Andy Dalton will need to be opportunistic.  My big fear is what we learned last year, Dalton can get overconfident and make bonehead throws.  Its this simple.  Run the ball, stop the run.  Dont turn the ball over.  If we do these 3 things, we will be in a position to win in the 4th quarter.
    • This makes me wish we took a flyer on Quinn Ewers late in the draft
