Hes on a 1 year deal for not much money

panthers aren’t winning anything this year.

Turn that frown upside down. Lots of football to play. Panthers are 4-4! They could run the table and get on an even bigger win streak than they were on.

I truly hate to say it, but I agree. Dowdle is not signing back her next year, especially after how Canales and Co. have handled his hot hand.

I don't believe we're going very far this year...so it's not a decision I want us to make but thinking ahead for the future, if we could get something for him it might be better for the future of the team. Unless there is another option where we restructure/trade Chuba which I'm guessing is unlikely.

I want to emphasize, I'm a huge fan of his this season. But as an organization you have to look beyond that.

(Also keep in mind we have 2nd round pick J. Brooks waiting in the wings, whatever that means to you.)

This.  We are in a perfect situation to do this-- he's shown he can be a complete game-changer, but doesn't have a lot of wear and tear because we are running Chuba also.

May be a case of playing chess while others are playing checkers!

Absolutely, or at least that's what a competent franchise would TRY to do. Neither RB can get going with this rotation BS, so send Dowdle off since he's been the hottest lately. There are a lot of RB needy teams with playoff aspirations that I could see throwing maybe a 3rd or 4th our way for Dowdle (Commanders, Texans, Chiefs, Chargers, Patriots, etc.) If you aren't going to use him anyway, might as well trade him while his value is at its highest.

No competent teams would play their best players.

Buffalo sure could of helped us out by rotating drives with Cook today.

Instead they just kept feeding him until the Panthers will broke.

That's what competent teams do.

I swear I’ve seen the writing on the wall since Chuba come back that Dowdle is going to be traded. He is flat out a harder and faster runner than Hubbard and made the offense move better than Chuba, gained more yards per carry and willed the Panthers to victory with two massive performances. But for some inane reason, the coaching staff hasn’t let Dowdle continue his hot streak. There have been trade rumors and I feel like if the Panthers get a mid round pick in return the Panthers will take it. They drafted Etienne and Hubbard is on a big contract. It makes no sense, he’s looked better than any other Panthers player on the offense this year, but he’s not getting playing time with Hubbard back and it seems he’s being shopped for trade.

This team is just infuriating sometimes and it’s no secret why every year they seem to struggle.

That makes no sense...

Rico is the only offensive player producing for this team. He's not the one that needs to be traded.

I know this is an emotional time coming off a bad loss. But, think about what we could turn that 4th (possibly/hopefully) round pick into this spring. We could land a slow linebacker with little game awareness. Or we could select a raw pass rusher that never produced results in college, but had great metrics at the combine. Just think of the possibilities!

How about we not try to fix what wasn't broken?

    • poo has gone insane. NCAAF is badly broken.
    • he's eligible to return next week. canales going to put him right back into the starting lineup https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/1982531852922675205
    • I mean, that sounds good. I will say that I kind of cringe when people say we overpaid for for an O-line because if you want the best players, or even quality players on the O-line, you're going to have to pay. They were proven players, one arguably the best at his position in football, so you're going to back up the Brinks truck. I don't see it as overpaying as much as I see it shifting your priorities in light of your situation and market conditions.  Now with an RB, those generally are easier to get and easier to replace, especially if you have a good O-line. We could've let Chuba walk and still kept rolling a lot easier than continuing to roll the dice on backups starting on the O-line. I can't even remember who was available, but I'd bet that there was someone available who could replace Chuba's production. That being said, we've been told in this thread that Chuba's contract was structured in a way that facilitates minimal pain if we decide to move on from him. If that's so, then it was smart and someone in the FO had a little foresight (and probably understands the PR side of things, as well as the pure numbers side).
