I don't think many good players want to play for the Panthers right now.

Going from the Cowboys to the Panthers is like going from the Lakers to the Hornets. lol

Apparently he was crushed by the move.

Fact of the matter is he will demand $ and contact after the year. We already paid Hubbard. I don’t like it either but it’s the best option.

If he does let him walk. Its the chance you take to win games. If he gets a big contract elsewhere then there's a chance we get a compensatory pick later. I really don't care about day 3 picks, especially anything after the 5th round. We seem to do better with udfa's anyway.

That is a good point. We will get something if he signs elsewhere and if we can keep him producing he surely will get some offers. Might be at the top of the FA pool for RBs

We had a winning record for the first time in a LONG TIME and we are open to trading the player that got us there.....

We don’t know that to be true…yet. But if it is, there is no hope for this franchise.

Its better for us and Rico if he balls out. Feed him the rock and see where he can take this thing.

Because he isn’t signed for next year and we won’t have him then. We are talking 9 games, and do you really think we will have a winning record if he stays?
That is a hard sell to me.

edit: but I would lean towards keeping him with the compensatory pick swaying the argument.

I'm not defending DCs handling of the RB situation. Nor am I defending Chuba's contract, but this notion that Chuba is garbage is really strange. "All RBs need to get into a rhythm...except Chuba Hubbard. If he doesn't do much with his 6 carries he's extremely pure ass cheeks!"

Many things about this can be true.

Is dowdle our best rb this year? Yes

Are we winning the superbowl this year? No

Are we signing another rb to another contract? No

Is dowdles value at its highest? Yes

Should we base bryces performance on the exploits of a back up rb? No

No one is taking Hubbard and his contract. Remember we traded a 5th for a legit young qb in baker. Getting a 5th or 4th for a couple games of our back up rb ( who is performing better than the starter) is a coup.

You gotta know when to hold em and when to fold em. We ain't winning the championship this year. Time to pick up more assets for next year

Meh

I felt Rico was a better, more powerful runner with burst more than Chubba even before he got those starts and he has proven he is.  If the Panthers were to trade a RB the better move would be to trade Chubba and sign Rico to longer term contract so he's not lost in free agency.
