This Bryce Guy (General BY Discussion)

This team came into today vs. a team that:

had more talent

more experienced/better QB

better coach

better coaching staff

better defense

recent SB ring

more playoff experience

won more games in 2026

We were a Nick Scott INT / better called final drive away from moving on while 10-point underdogs at home, and backing into the playoffs .

Another successful offseason adding talent in FA and the draft, replacing JAGs (Scott, Robinson, Rozeboom, etc) and I think we win the South outright and are no worse than a 10-win team.

Losing sucks and I think we all feel it, but think of how many youngsters (Coker, Scourton, Bryce, Ransom) got playoff experience and almost moved on.

Based on the first quarter, this game looked like a 44-14 blowout and getting mocked by the usual pundits. We left with our heads high knowing it was ours for the taking and we just couldn’t do it.

He played well enough to move forward with him.  I’m not sold on a big extension but the option seems like a lock now.

The team the panthers lost to traded away the qb they lost a Super Bowl with, and bryce has never sniffed goff’s production, certainly not with mcvay

Yeah I don’t think this team is in a super bowl window with a vet QB.  Otherwise I’d agree.

They should still draft a guy or sign someone different as the backup.  But next year Canales has to prove he can improve at calling the offense or were 12 months away from cleaning house.

I’ve been more middle of the road with Bryce, sometimes even favorable, but I’m surprisingly still in the out camp.

His lows this last year were still just too alarming for me. No doubt he’s not going anywhere, but I’m  mjust a bit exhausted waiting for it to all get consistent and feel like comfortable, fun football.

It was tonight though (mostly)

If he had of done this coming off a great season you would be more inclined to settle him in as the future. But if you tell me looking at his 3 years that QBs get paid rich off them numbers and deserve it you are delusional.

I think at this point the FO are in the right to demand a full season of play like this before committing long term. It makes the most sense.

I think we pick up the option, we regress next year.  And then we move on and pay him anyways.  This would the most Panther outcome possible.

Yup.  I won't say we will necessarily regress, but not much more in the way of progress either.  I think we will be a fringe playoff team again.  This is where the Panthers will be indefinitely with BY as our franchise QB.   In the NFL, team's success typically mirrors that of their QB.  Average QB, average team.

This team is probably capped as a 8-9 win team at best with Canales and Bryce duo

I don't see the rest of the division sucking ass like it did this year. I think the Bryce ride is finally over after next season. I don't want Canales either but this playoff run probably bought him more time unless the Panthers really suck next year.

I wouldn't do it but If the team  really wants to commit  to Young then they need to tell  Bryce that he has to improve on his performance next year or they're moving on.

His TD/INT ratio wasn't too bad. But pretty much every other passing stat was.

Yards per game, yards per attempt, EPA, were all at the bottom to the league.

After seeing the Kurt Warner video, it's obvious that he needs to get with a coach and work on his footwork and throwing mechanics all off-season. If he could add just 10% more velocity to his throws it would improve his passing ability and make it easier for him attack all areas of the field.

If I were in his shoes I'd be trying to get with.a QB whisperer before the end of the month and gladly fork over the money to acquire the best one available.
