It is kind of funny that CJ could be playing himself into the exact model of young talented QB that ended up washing out and might be worth a flier.
But that’s after he is cut which he isn’t.  And likely won’t be.

Another surprise is I never saw problems with him and the 5th year option. Thought he would get the extension. Then while I am not looking he goes and switches up. There could be problems there.

We should just trade them for each other to see if a change in scenery helps.  If they want to throw in WAJ, I won't complain...

I've been looking into QB pressure numbers and surprisingly it's Caleb Williams at the top with 94 QB hurries.

Coincidentally the Texans gave up the same number of sacks as the Panthers at 37 tied for 18th in the league.

We really need to reevaluate our approach to roster building. Way too much tied up in the OL.

The amount of money we have tied up in the OL does not match the production at all

The Ickey injury is obviously very unfortunate but if it forces us to take a LT in the 1st or 2nd to save on another big time contract to the OL it might be a blessing in disguise (assuming of course the guy we draft isn’t a complete dud)

I wonder if the Panthers take a flier on Evan Neal. I never liked Neal as a prospect but he obviously played with Bryce and I’d imagine he’d be pretty cheap considering he’s sucked the last 4 years whenever he’s played

I'm glad we can somewhat agree on something for a change.

In the end every single team is going to have to deal with injuries along the OL. To have the highest paid group by a significant margin and have them banged up and still be roughly middle of the league is unacceptable based on the cost.

It's terrible luck what happened to Icky. Feel awful for the kid even though he has been largely up and down to this point.

That being said. I'm open to all options. We need to fill out the rest of this roster and no matter who is behind center whether it's Bryce or another QB down the line. If we are going to get back to the playoffs and actually win we need to invest in the defense badly and continue filling out the rest of the roster.

If we go OT round 1 in this years draft I'll understand it based on the injury to Icky but we are only digging in further and further if we are assessing the situation from a neutral position. It's not sustainable.

Well it looks like we are gonna need two OTs within the next couple of years.  Our hand is kind of forced here.
Think if we had extended Icky and this happens game one 2026. We got lucky in that sense.
Ans he may lose his career than he loves but he is under contract for like 17 million. He won’t have a bad life because of no money  if he has to retire.

Joe Person has a big piece in The Athletic today floating 3 years 33 million extension for Young.  MF’n poo.

Noteworthy it has Reich quotes in it.  Complimentary too, but that’s Frank. Sure wish he would talk about his time here and why he was fired.

Yep.  I couldn’t bear to read it all.
Hunt is praising him. Derrick Brown is praising him.
Reich is praising him to a lesser degree.

He says not expected to be offered an extension before next season, but it is paving the way preparing the sheep for the news type of piece.
