Do they practice down field throws at practice?

They do but you cannot hit the qb in practice.

So even without being hit, he cant do it. What the fug? The field is one hundred yards long and they have to cut it in thirds because of him.

With WRs running a 40 with no route or defender in 4.5/or sub, they get 20 yards in roughly 2.25 seconds or less.  So they can easily get beyond the sticks and a QB can layer a throw to hit them in stride for a nice vertical gain.  We just don't do that.

Yeah. I distinctly remember being apoplectic watching his first game vs Atlanta in 2023.
His lack of urgency on the drop and in general, and the lack of downfield throws were the two primary motivators for that.
I was against it but the hype on this board was so great, you couldn’t question him. Post draft, camp, preseason.

I had held my tongue until I saw him on the field in a real NFL game. Boy oh boy, total confirmation he was a huge mistake.

It hasn’t changed much. he hits a lick occasionally where he does well but it flatlines again pretty quickly.

The best memory of him that I have is that TD he threw where he knew it was good and turned around and didn’t watch it get caught. That is his high point.  It was so good that a lot of people lived on it and are still living on it.

I didn't hold my tongue...I was out on Bryce LONG before he was drafted by the Panthers. Bryce's game did not translate well to the NFL.

I vividly remember the 2022 Texas vs. Alabama game as the prime example of why Bryce would never translate well to the NFL. That was one of the best defeses Alabama played that season, a big chunk of players from that Texas defense are playing in the NFL now, and Bryce struggled all game. If Quinn Ewers didn't get hurt in that game, Texas would have won and the entire Bryce narrative changes.

If anyone wants a reminder, here's the highlights of the game. He looks like EXACTLY the same QB now. Nothing has changed.

Another thing about this game is it might have been rigged. This sh*t still bothers me. Young got sacked for a safety and the refs bailed him out. Should have either been intentional grounding and a safety or just outright sacked.

I cannot say enough how much the FO disgusts me. That we are to the point where we have paid this kid $39 million given up substantial capital to acquire him built the most expensive OL in the league to give him a chance to succeed. Drafted back to back first round WR's. And here we are essentially beating around the bush at best and acting as if we cannot see what is plain as day to everyone else. Dan Morgan should be ashamed of himself. The Tepper's are horrible out of touch people but Morgan should be better than this.

I still think a Dalton thumb injury screwed us 2 seasons in a row.  It allowed the Bryce Young comeback after whoever finally gave a greenlight on being done w/ him 2 weeks into the season.

and I think we saw a soft benching this year and they wanted to see Andy run it with this crew.  But Andy hurting his thumb killed us from seeing whatever he has at full go in a game.

Bryce Young was never hurt those 2 games to the degree which called him to miss a game IMO.  You don't see QBs sit for such minor things....unless you just want to use it to explore and see.

Not upgrading the backup position this offseason or drafting another QB was just mind-numbingly stupid. And now they have to back-track a season too late to rectify it. Could have had a more concrete answer on picking up Bryce's 5th year option out of necessity, without having any other options on the roster.

Since Bryce, we have not once tried a Hail Mary to end a half or a game. Throwing up jump balls into the end zone with nothing to lose is a staple in the NFL. Also correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Bryce has ever performed a QB sneak.

What other evidence do people need?

remember when Canales this year went to painful effort to get the hail mary opportunity before the half.....and did a Tommy Tremble screen pass.   Because yeah,  Tommy Tremble shaking and baking for 50 yards is logical attempt lol.  Hail mary at least gives you shot at PI and the ball at the 1.

If by thumb injury you mean Andy Dalton being completely washed lol
