Locker Room Speech

Glad he realized what a mistake that Victory Monday was.  Team lacked focus all the way from that point to halftime of this game.  Not winning in a way that calls for a day off. WAY more work to do but there is growth in this young team. Loved that he called himself out for a few questionable coaching decisions. Great chemistry and relationships in this locker room.  Changing the culture of this franchise after years of mediocrity is no small accomplishment.

With that QB too. And that defense last year. And Tepper.
It ain’t there but it is way better than it has been really, since Tepper bought the team. People knew the axe was gonna fall for Ron. As soon as he was forced to switch to a 3-4 the writing was on the wall.
They say you lose a game for every rookie you start. We got two or three starting. Probably more. Very young team.

True. However, we are finding ways to win the close ones that we 100% would have lost in the past. I think one more good draft/FA and possibly another QB and we are playoff bound.

That is what I think people overlook in pursuit of perfection or dominance. The good teams almost all have to win a couple of ugly ones. Getting that out of your team is real progress. Maybe a better indicator than the dominant wins.

thought we'd throw in the towel after we were down (what, 14-7? 21-7?)   That the team/coach/water-kids were able to pull it together and make something happen is a strong showing of players and coaches believing in each other

now let's do it consistently. Win the games we're supposed to win.   Be competitive in the games that we're not favored (and maybe win those too)

So true...look back at 2015 when we won 15 during the regular season and like half of those went down to the wire

I did think about some of those games when typing that post.
Ugly but a different kind of ugly. We put up massive offense and then pulled a Falcons. Except we snatched the win away at the end.
Still, winning and it not being pretty is much better than losing. That team knew how to win. Mostly. But look who we had.

It does feel like the guys are believing. If they want to be winners, it takes efforts like today.

I hope we never see another game like NO the rest of the season.

Same.  I really hope Bryce turned a corner, but life as a Panthers fan means I’ve been burned too many times to believe the best-case scenario.  But, man, how dope would this be if these guys figure it out.  No more checking out, no more not showing up.  Play like you want to fuging win and leave nothing in the tank every week.

    • They will be if they extend Young but I don't think we're there just yet. Morgan and Canales are tied and I don't believe Tepper is going to go look for a new front office for Bryce as things stand.
    • I was playing around with the ESPN playoff predictor and it shows if 49ers and Rams finish with same record, the Rams hold the tiebreaker.
    • This is my thinking as well. Seattle played as good as they could on defense and Panthers still had a chance until those back to back turnovers.  I don't think the Rams played particularly well in their game against us, alot things went our way in order to win.  Someone pointed out the Rams were bad on the east coast road games and Seattle has been the better road team but they just fought a hard contested game against the Panthers, and now they travel to San Fran this week for their biggest game of the season to determine the division and if they are the overall #1 seed in the NFC or will be traveling for the Wildcard weekend.  If they lose they then travel back cross the country to play a team they've just beaten two weeks ago, not saying they won't be favored against the Panthers but the energy of hosting our first playoff game in 10 years along with the get back effect of having just lost to this team could be huge.
