I like Baker and not rooting for his injury, but if we can sneak 1 win against the Rams / 49ers / Seahawks then it’s a straight up dog fight for the division

I dislike Baker and am rooting for his injury.

Anything that helps us beat the Bucs.

how can you dislike a guy that played scout team DE for us..... the Panthers failed Baker, not the other way around

Cos he was dogshit for us.

Here’s your sources of dogshit

2 we got rid of

1 will be a stain for a while

Baker failed in miserable organizations (Panthers / Browns) just like Darnold (Jets / Panthers)

I see it this way, we could beat the Saints on the road, Seattle at home.  Will probably lose to the Niners and Rams.

That means we are 8-7 excluding the Bucs games.  For us to win the division, we could hope to tie the Bucs and win the head-to-head. to do that, we have to sweep Tampa Bay and finish 10-7 (yes--the Saints loss is killer).

Here is why:

The Bucs, on the other hand, have an EASY schedule.  AT HOME:  Cardinals, Falcons, Saints, Panthers.  AWAY:  Panthers and Dolphins.  I see them winning at least 4 more games.  If they beat the Cards, the Falcons, the Saints, and the Dolphins, they have 10 wins.  Probably expected because no team has over 4 wins except the Panthers.

Even if Baker is out, I see them winning 4 down the stretch, making their overall record 10-7 if they lose both games to the Panthers.  If so, we go.

While it could happen; I sense the Panthers are starting to feel it, but I thought that before the home game vs. New Orleans, so we shall see.  I give the Panthers about a 10-20% chance of pulling it off

My biggest thing is that down the stretch we could be facing three different QBs that have revenge on their minds for us jettisoning us: Bridgewater, Mayfield (assuming they split the two due to Baker's injury) and Darnold. Add in that we have McCaffrey that we traded away for peanuts.

It's bad karma.

But we're also the black cats, so maybe that bad karma whips back around and works for us.

Oh, who the heck knows. We're competitive and there are opportunities ahead of us if we can make it through tonight.

I mean, when was the last time we were in first place in the NFCSouth past the second week?

Baker was dog poo. Darnold played better for us by far. Both needed to go elsewhere to up their game for the reasons you highlighted but Baker really was bad here. Darnold at least was passable.

    • Chuba had some burst against the falcons and Rico is banged up. I think Chuba gets more run and gets in the end zone. Cmc also absolutely kills us through the air but is limited rushing. XL catches one long pass and drops 2 others. Ultimately I want us to look like we belong on the field and see if we can steal one late
    • The only thing that would truly surprise me would be a Panthers blowout win. I think the likelihood of that happening is almost 0. So I think it goes one of three ways, and I think the Panthers can only win one of the three ways.  Option 1: The 49ers win by 2+ scores in a game that is close at halftime but the 49ers run away with it in the second half. The Panthers running game produces early and help the Panthers take an early lead, but the 49ers focus on stopping Dowdle in the second half, while Bryce falters and is largely a non factor reverting back to the ineffective QB we’ve seen for most of his career. On defense, the Panthers poor tacking being the difference in the game. 49ers 38 Panthers 20 Option 2: Panthers win a gutty, low scoring, hard fought defensive game like the 2013 win in San Francisco which was a fantastic game if you enjoy defensive battles. Panthers defense rises to the occasion and shuts down Purdy and CMC and the game is a battle of field goals. Time of possession heavily favors the Panthers with both Hubbard and Dowdle getting 10+ touches. Bryce is clutch in the 4th quarter leading the team to another last second win. Panthers 19 49ers 16 Option 3 (and I think this is what Vegas is leaning towards): The 49ers win a back and forth high scoring game with the 49ers pulling out a last minute victory. There are good and bad moments for both teams, the defenses both force turnovers and the game is back and forth until the end. 49ers 27 Panthers 25 If this was a Sunday 4 o’clock game I would say Option 3 is most likely. Given the Panthers atrocious performances in prime time games in….really the entire history of the franchise, I think it’ll be Option 1. But I really hope they can keep the game low scoring and get a gutty win which would go a long way towards making the playoffs.
