Is this the best timed ‘bye’ we’ve ever had

I don't think there is any chance.  I think the moment he sent that tweet that was critical of coaching, Canales immediately went back to a 50/50 backfield.

Which stinks because Rico was my fantasy gamechanger that was putting me over the top

Best timed?  Yes.  I always hope for a late season bye and it was perfect this year.

Also, likely the best bye we've had.  At least I don't recall another where Panthers fans were able to have that much shockingly good fun watching the bad guys lose, nor one where it moved us atop the division.

Despite the lows, this season will always hold some of our all-time favorite Panther memories:

There is, of course, the (not just one, but TWO) shocking upset games,

Our Black Friday best bye ever

Not just sweeping, but completely shutting out the Falcons in one game and setting our passing yards record against them in the second game,

Rico's insane two-game stretch, even calling his shot before Dallas.

Crazy bi-polar season.

Hunt hasn't yet been designated to have practice window open.  I dont think he plays any more thos season.

"He's getting closer," Canales stated. "We're not gonna open up his window this week. But he's getting closer, he's getting stronger and would love to see him back at some point over this next stretch."

I hope we don't rush him back, even in the middle of a playoff push. Not worth losing him for next season too.

And as a Hubbard owner my season was shot anyways.  By the time he started to come back my season's over.

Rosenbloom- back

 Mays- back

Horn- back

 Cherlus - back

Moehrig- back

a week of rest with only 4 weeks to go

Way better then the early byes we’re accustomed to getting, dare I say one of the best timed bye’s in franchise history

Only if we take advantage of it. If we come out and stink it up, meh…

    • I was honestly flabbergasted to see Rod send out Stanky and the boys to to matchup against their top line to start the game. The reason that line has been so effective is because they've been matched mostly against 2nd and 3rd lines all year. You've got last change. Use it to your advantage.
    • Nobody played well on defense last night. But, the vitriol towards Chatfield (and to a lesser extent, K'andre) is bigly misplaced. People (not just you) just refuse to accept how bad Slavin has been this season. And, I get it. Canes fans (and informed analysts) have spent nearly a decade trying to explain to casuals just how good Jaccccob is at hockey. 4Nations happened and the hockey watching public started to listen. National media even started floating the idea of creating a new award in his honor. Then this season, he gets hurt. It happens. NBD. But, when he finally came back, it wasn't the same. He'll get back to his old self in no time. Probably just some rust, it'll be fine. Only, it wasnt rust, and he's not fine. He's bad right now. It wasnt just last night. Although, that was absolutely the worst game of his NHL career. Slavin (-4) currently has the 3rd worst +/- of anyone left in the playoffs. We've  been begging the world to recognize Jaccob Slavin's greatness. And, by the time we finally got people to listen, he shits the bed! I blame Kash!
    • According to Scott Fowler, in an article about former Panthers announcer applying for a job with the Ravens... what that job pays, incidentally, when the Ravens posted it publicly they said the salary would be $4,000 to $5,000 per game. An NFL season consists of 20-24 games, including the preseason and potential playoff games, so it will end up somewhere between $80,000 and $120,000 a year. The person hired will be an independent contractor, which is commonplace in the NFL these days for team broadcasters, and also have other radio and TV hosting assignments.  https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article315839800.html
