I would not be surprised to see us add a free agent LB and then draft one.  If we bring Rozeboom back, we would have solid depth.

ILB's are bad but the EDGE guys are underwhelming too. 

Upgrades across the board are needed. If Scourton or Umanmielen pan out, fantastic, but it's unwise to assume they will.

Nic is a player for us at strong side end or edge or whatever you want to call it. He’s good at handling blocks and setting the edge, probably best at play recognition right now. He’s got to work on his body and his get off in the offseason to have a rush threat tho. Need a pass rush specialist at that other edge spot for sure.

Like 53 better anyway and i still like what barnes did when he had to start. I'm not as down on the LB position as most on here. We've been spoiled by elite LB play so it's tough to fill those shoes.

If you get a chance to upgrade either(or both) EDGE spots, you do so. Doesn't mean Scourton shouldn't get reps, after all we will see plenty of reps from the two deep. We just need to get that front 7 better overall.

You hope our young guys keep getting better and eventually become either very good rotational players or elite guys.

Hmmm… is Isaiah Simmons gonna get some playing time?  Would be a great lottery ticket to get some solid production from him in a resurrection of his career.  Agree with most in this thread on the draft and lb room.  Gimme Sonny styles please.

Edge always seems to take two to three years, so hard to know if either of the guys from last year will improve enough to be true difference makers. Id probably still draft one and invest in a free agent thats proven.

I agree to a point, and I've also said something similar. The thing is though, it's arguable that some other positions are a higher priority, and we just can't be in the business of passing up higher graded players at other positions to fill others, especially when we haven't even given current players the chance to pan out after only a season. I mean, at some point, if our guys show a higher consistency of flashes, you have to let them develop. I'm not averse to drafting an LB (EDGE or tackling machine) first, but they have to be definitely better than others at other positions.
