So do we really want to win?

In the past there was always debate about winning or losing for a draft pick.  We’re finally playing for something but what if it means  Bryce and Canales for another 5 years?

Ultimately, I always want to win the game and I want to us  to win the division because God knows when they’ll be in a position to do it again but I can’t help but wonder what the best long-term outcome should be?

I know that I am full of contradictions at the time and I can’t help but being conflicted about how to feel going into this game. At the beginning of the season I would’ve taken in a heartbeat  to be in a position to play the Bucs for the division title. However context and how you get there matters and I don’t feel that the team is deserving having lost to Saints twice and while nobody expected us to win against the Seahawks, the way we lost is absolutely embarrassing.

I just don’t know if I can handle every other game that offense looking like the worst passing offense I have ever seen…

I'd like for them them to win the NFCS.  That's still something.  I got no interest in watching them be an unworthy playoff team that is just in because the division is garbage and get smashed.  Maybe Canales can just kneel down earlier since he is cool w/ that.  Nothing about this team says anyone would be scared of them in the playoffs despite what the clickbait media was trying to sell.  If a team implodes and gifts a game? Yeah, any team can technically win in that scenario.  That's where we would fall.

A big fallacy here is somehow you can't make picks to improve this team if we're at pick 19 instead of 17.

Win babay.  If we get embarrassed in the playoffs, so be it.

This season is bonkers.    Some of the worst offense I've ever seen at times, but we're somehow here.  Let it be and see if we can do something.  It will be good for the young dudes.

Deserve is a better question for me. I don't think we deserve it. The ending of that game bothers me. As a fan, it bothers me. As a competitor, it really bothers me. I saw something yesterday I really don't like and it goes against everything Keep Pounding represents. I don't think we deserve it.

The NFC South doesn't deserve a playoff team. I mean, we all know that we suck but look at the Bucs. They've only won one game since the start of November.

No because if these idiots do win the NFCS they will pat themselves on the back vs accepting how much they still need to improve. If you can't see that after this year you're blind.

If they win then get ready for new lows next year. These guys can't even keep it consistent week to week so guess what they do when they take a victory lap?

I lost a lot of respect for Canales on that move   Run home as the bully steals your lunch money and cry to your Momma

the Panthers are the Duke Blue Devils.  Only the NFL hasn't' figured out how to exclude people yet

I loved it. Bryce has had quite a few games where he could've posted a stat line similar to yesterday's but then we get an opportunity like we had yesterday to put together a garbage time drive dink and dunking against prevent D and then the end result ends up looking like a run of the mill bad game from your QB instead of what it actually was which was a Jimmy Clausen-esque "this guy obviously doesn't belong on an NFL field" showing.

Play To Win New York Jets GIF

Fug draft position. We've been waiting years to win and make the playoffs. There is no way people in charge can look at this season and mr 54 yards most recent implosion and what happened to Tua and kyler ( both better qbs imo) and think that Bryce deserves his bag.

They'll do his 5th year for due diligence but no long term contract and a legit qb competition is coming next year especially if Bryce poos the bed again vs tb or in the playoffs. No one can think Bryce is a superbowl mvp caliber qb

    • considering [Dave] Canales enters Year 3 working for an impulsive owner. There’s not much room to slide backwards from an 8-9 season and 13-21 overall record. It doesn’t help that his primary job has been the development of quarterback Bryce Young, and the progress there has been inconsistent. Canales was supposed to turn the former top pick into a franchise quarterback. If that doesn’t happen by next January, the Panthers could be looking for both a new coach and quarterback." —————- The format of that doesn’t display on my iPad I had to paste it as plain text to see it so I am leaving it here to refer to… I am gonna disagree with a lot of that.  First reference is Tepper. That interview posted here a few days back gave me the impression that he is really happy with his FO. And Canales. Seat isn’t even warm as of right now. IMO.  The assertion that Canales is supposed to turn Young into a franchise QB is something I have never bought. First, how could anyone look at 2023Bryce and see a can’t miss Franchise player?  He was for sure a could miss.  I am not sure it was fix Bryce or you are both gone. Maybe that will happen The longer it drags on, I think maybe the more likely a total house cleaning could be an outcome. I mean it is only year 3 of Canales coming up. But as a couple of people like to point out, he has shown other concerning flaws that might damage his stock.  As far as the hot seat, mid season with 2-3 wins I would imagine yeah it would be pretty warm. I think a small regression to say 7 or maybe even 6 wins would be tolerated but the seat is warm for 2027. Depends on the circumstances.
    • Or finish 7th and lose the first game to set up with the Pistons. One they have less playoff experience than the Knicks or Celtics and two cuz fug em that's why
    • This damn play is shown as one of the worst sports plays of the year on a Canadian sports channel on repeat. The reminder on a weekly basis keeps me from being too happy with our playoff appearance.
