So do we really want to win?

I think the focus is on the NFC South because the two teams contending for the title are the two teams absolutely floundering down the stretch. The Falcons and Saints are clearly better teams right now than us and the Bucs but it is what it is.

Yeah the saints are definitely the best team in the division right now.. And with the best quarterback

I mean, it's pretty simple.  If the huddle thinks we are going to win and got a real shot at it.....I'll go to Vegas and bet on us to lose.  If the huddle can guarantee a loss, I'll go bet on us to win.

this is what I have learned.  I'm not letting Seattle skew that.

I absolutely want to win. You dont create a "winning culture" by losing for draft picks.

Every year I hear about this "building winning culture" when we're tanking our draft position with late season wins. I don't think getting dog walked by a legit playoff team at home in the wildcard round is gonna do much for establishing winning culture.

If we get a home playoff game who is blowing us out?

we beat the Rams, smoked the game against SF, and were a Horn penalty away from having the ball in the 4th to tie it up yesterday

i am not naive enough to think this is a super bowl roster but how would anyone not want a spot in the dance in a year where Burrow Mahomes and possibly Lamar Jackson are out of the playoffs and the 1 seed in the NFC is likely going to be a team QB’d by Sam Darnold?

Why is it a black and white thing? Of course I would want them to win. I am absolutely not going to be carried away with with grief and despair if they lose. I'm an adult, there is so much more going on in life that doesn't hinge on the outcome of a mostly-shitty football team. My darkhorse team is still alive. My team B is very much in the mix. The Panthers have been better than expected. It's been a good season.

I expect them to lose at this point.

Rams rolled through us like a wet paper bag......and happened to have 3 bad offensive plays.  Bryce did virtually nothing that entire game.....except 2 throws on 4th down that frankly felt like trick plays.  Sometimes get lucky, but all the info was there to know they are vastly better than us.

We need teams to beat themselves, when we play good teams.  We have zero wins in Bryce's career where we beat a good team having a good day.  We got the doors blown off us if we see that.

This is so real twin. Why do 40-something year olds spend their lives screaming at a tv in a game that doesn’t involve them?? 😭

The playoffs are on the line; you play to win the damned game.

It's really preposterous to think that the Panthers will strive to do otherwise. But I can understand the rationale of fans thinking losing would be better in the short and long term, I just disagree with it. At some point you have to think in terms of standing on business while winning, not looking to improve by losing.

fug a few spots at draft position. I've always said that if your GM, scouts and HC can't identify talent to improve the team in every round, especially days one and two, then they don't need to be on the job. I give them the built-in grace on day three, but only because of historical probabilities, but there is no excuse for not being able to come away with at least one impactful starter on day one, and very little excuse to not come away with one on day two. No one will ever make me believe that when you have first, second and even third round draft picks that you can't come away with a player that continually (not continuously) has a positive affect on the field, so it makes little sense in my opinion to whine about approximately five draft positions. Now if we get to the playoffs and win in the first round, admittedly our draft position would be markedly different, but I'm never gonna cry about winning. Like AI said, I expect the FO to do its damned job regardles.

It doesn't matter.  Make the right picks.  The same teams are picking in the 2nd half of the draft every single year.

What matters is if they give Bryce a contract because we made the playoffs.  Nothing else is important.

I disagree. I don’t see how losing to Tampa in the final week would help anything. It would leave a sour taste going into the offseason. Even if they get blown out in the playoffs the confidence boost of just getting there would benefit the development of some of the younger players who will be here for the future. If they fold in the final game, it’s just going to deflate the team morale next year, especially if Bryce is the reason they lose.

    • considering [Dave] Canales enters Year 3 working for an impulsive owner. There’s not much room to slide backwards from an 8-9 season and 13-21 overall record. It doesn’t help that his primary job has been the development of quarterback Bryce Young, and the progress there has been inconsistent. Canales was supposed to turn the former top pick into a franchise quarterback. If that doesn’t happen by next January, the Panthers could be looking for both a new coach and quarterback." —————- The format of that doesn’t display on my iPad I had to paste it as plain text to see it so I am leaving it here to refer to… I am gonna disagree with a lot of that.  First reference is Tepper. That interview posted here a few days back gave me the impression that he is really happy with his FO. And Canales. Seat isn’t even warm as of right now. IMO.  The assertion that Canales is supposed to turn Young into a franchise QB is something I have never bought. First, how could anyone look at 2023Bryce and see a can’t miss Franchise player?  He was for sure a could miss.  I am not sure it was fix Bryce or you are both gone. Maybe that will happen The longer it drags on, I think maybe the more likely a total house cleaning could be an outcome. I mean it is only year 3 of Canales coming up. But as a couple of people like to point out, he has shown other concerning flaws that might damage his stock.  As far as the hot seat, mid season with 2-3 wins I would imagine yeah it would be pretty warm. I think a small regression to say 7 or maybe even 6 wins would be tolerated but the seat is warm for 2027. Depends on the circumstances.
    • Or finish 7th and lose the first game to set up with the Pistons. One they have less playoff experience than the Knicks or Celtics and two cuz fug em that's why
    • This damn play is shown as one of the worst sports plays of the year on a Canadian sports channel on repeat. The reminder on a weekly basis keeps me from being too happy with our playoff appearance.
