What will likely happen with this team moving forward….

No matter how we all feel about the performance and direction of this team moving forward, David Tepper likely gives all three one more season to prove we can get over the hump. You may not like it, but Dan got to choose his own coach and will be tied to him.

Bryce, Dave, and Dan are likely all going to be tied to next seasons success, and they know it. Three years is more than enough to turn a team around. Expect them all to be gone if we are not in the playoffs next season, and Bryce Young will be under a lot more pressure and could be benched again if things are going like they have this season offensively. 

David Tepper signed Dave C. to a 6 year deal and will want to show the rest of the league he can be patient and give a coach time for someone to build a proper team….3 years is enough time to do that.

I would start with 

1. Canales, HC only  if he doesn’t like that, he can leave now

      Any OC that has.put up what he has over 2 years would already be gone 

2. Hire a legit OC  not named Brad Idzik   Canales is not the answer 

not sure  he is the HC answer either but that is next year’s discussion 

3. the run offense failed multiple weeks, so run game coordinator and running backs need updating   The running backs are nothing special 

i don’t want to hear Rico is hurt…he hasnt performed for weeks  Etienne is there, use him 

4  get, and keep Legette off the field 

very concerned that Canales has become over cautious and in the nfl, cautious is road  kill 

People make light of that kneel down against Seattle   Please find me one other nfl team in similar circumstances who so blatantly gave up 

just like that flea flicker call was a give up   Stupid   There isn’t a JV coach in this country trying to that would call that in those conditions and that part of the field

nothing. Carolina made progress and thats all Tepper wants to see. Business as usual next year.  I really think they made look into an actual OC so Dave can concentrate on the overall game.  Because play calling is an area he is struggling with.

We tried that hiring coaches and forcing them on a HC with Reich. Turns out the All-Star staff just turned into a bunch of snitches that ran to Tepper with every problem.

IMO, if Canales isn't capable of seeing his flaws and correcting them, it will never work. You have the discussion about bringing in an OC with the GM and Canales. If he is resistant to that idea or he basically indicates that Idzik is the guy, I think you have the answer.

Were it me and I couldn't just summarily can him, I would tell him that he has to have a dedicated OC and/or offensive playcaller. If he says Idzik, cool. But that leash will be really short in 2026 and as the person that says this is "the guy", you put your name behind him. 

One thing to keep an eye on is if you see coaches start getting fired during the 2026 season, that means the hot seat is cherry red under Dave.

The team made significant progress. They need another solid draft and a FA pass rusher. Mid round QB with ideal physical traits would be great to push Bryce.

That's a build meant to fail. Just look at any game this year where they thought they turned the corner the game before. 

My guess is we will look back when Dave gets fired mid-season next year and wish we did fire him and abandon this build now.

I think this is partially true. We also finished 7-3 in one score games. Don't be surprised to see a bit of a dip next season.

Everything will be riding on the 2026 sesson

If they revert back to winning 2 to 6 ish games next year I think it all gets blown up and start over at QB and HC.

We won too many games this year for any significant changes to happen, besides maybe losing Evero and Idzik, DC and OC, and getting new coaches there. Maybe firing and replacing some position group coaches. 

Roster will be very similar.  Rico will be replaced by Jonathon Brooks imo, XL might be traded. Might get a big name free agent pass rusher and or MLB. But in general the team will look very similar players wise. 

And getting a more capable backup qb not named Andy Dalton. There's some fairly intriguing project QBs in the draft they might take a stab at as well, since Bryce has been so inconsistent this year.
