This isn’t what you said. You said cutting Dalton is move number 1

id prefer we shot Bryce like a horse

If you think I'm a Bryce stan you haven't read anything I've posted since I got back on this board. I actually think I'm repetitive and obnoxious about it.

Everyone here knows my position on Bryce Young. The only thing that would make me largely detach from the team would be signing Geno. He's basically another Andy Dalton (terrible) and he's a top to bottom ungrateful douchecanoe.

He is a terrible teammate.

this draft is loaded for a developmental QB who can, in time, possibly challenge for a starting spot by 2027.   I think there are about 5 who will not be drafted on day 1 who could become NFL starters in time--like Ewers (Fish like him--7th rounder).

QBs just like Quinn Ewers huh

Did not say that, but roll with it. I probably did not elaborate on my point.  A seventh rounder getting a shot to unseat a first round draft pick starter.  And he did OK--to such a degree, it is doubtful Tua comes back.  He is a seventh rounder that everyone was down on--nearly did not get drafted.  if you look at his starts at the end of the season, they were better than Bryce's first six games or so.

I think in terms of risk vs reward.  Of course a seventh rounder is a long shot, but when a seventh rounder is in the same conversation with a first rounder, you increase the reward by lowering the risk.  It is a numbers game.  Was I endorsing Ewers?  Not at all, but the talent that is likely to be available on day 3 was once in round 1 talk (QBs from Penn St, LSU, Miami, etc).

QB play is the biggest problem with this team. I'd trade Bryce, but assuming we don't do that, the next best thing we can do is bring in some actual competition for the job.

Not sure what's surprising about that. Like you think off ball LB is more important?

Bryce will definitely be here next year and possibly the year after unless he does some Deshaun "Diddy" Watson type of stuff. I think #1 priority is getting some true competition for Bryce. And not some random 6th round draft pick or UDFA. Some sort of meaningful draft pick or FA candidate. That has to happen this offseason.

    • It's one thing that drives me insane, and speaks to the conservative nature of Bryce and Canales.  You drafted TMac for a reason...toss it deep in those scenarios and maybe draw a flag or your volleyball player makes the play. It's an arm punt if nothing else, oh well. The 20% chance the play works is worth more to me than 10-15 yards of field position a lot of the time.
    • If people are going to be up in arms over a what amounts to nothing more than a fantasy poll then the options could use some work. No competition in 2026 for the QB who is the third highest paid player on the roster and has started the first three consecutive years of his career playing poorly at best is a nonstarter for a lot of people and if anyone needs that explained to them maybe they should go back and give themselves a refresher course on the history of this franchise. As far as the other option even if we do lose against the Rams the team is still going to pick up Bryce's 5th let's be real. And even then it still isn't a given we will see legitimate competition. When it comes to winning the division and being in the playoffs I do think the majority of Panthers fans are happy about it and would be happy to see us finally win another playoff game but unfortunately you can't just put aside the elephant in the room and the baggage that comes with it. And dismissing these concerns as just people not being real fans or whatever cringy variation of labels being applied is only carrying water for the Tepper's. Such is only going to illicit eye rolls.
    • It has to be A on this poll. If he shows up in the Playoffs? That's where you need your QB to succeed. So yeah, you go into next year with him as your starter.   More realistic and worst case scenario. He looks... fine. He doesn't play well enough to win us the game. He doesn't play bad enough to be acknowledged as the problem. And so we spend another off-season paralyzed. Not feeling like he was bad enough that we need to make a move, but not good enough to be our QB of the future. So we end up loading up for another year of Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde Bryce and mediocre ball.
