Geno Smith unfollowed raiders on social media

Recommended Posts

So the Raiders have the #1 overall pick and think QB isn't the move? Do better and the team may have passed on a QB, Geno.  Call me crazy, but could it be performance related?

Mendoza incoming.  Glad he won't be a Saint! That really had sweating bullets for a lot of the season.

this draft is loaded for a developmental QB who can, in time, possibly challenge for a starting spot by 2027.   I think there are about 5 who will not be drafted on day 1 who could become NFL starters in time--like Ewers (Fish like him--7th rounder).

I still say this guy should be on our list:

If it wasn’t for the Canales connection, I’d put Geno here as a backup at zero percent. Dude is 36, banged up, had a horrible year and has been a poor teammate.

Dalton has to go but I don’t want Geno here.

Don’t want him either but I think he would be an insurance policy in Canales’ brain if poo goes sideways next year with Bryce OR Bryce gets injured and his seat is warm.

Maybe we will finally see a deep ball to Jimmy Horn

I think Panthers go 3-way approach. A) Keep Bryce and see if anymore development. B) Bring in Geno as back-up/insurance. C) Draft a guy in 4-7 and see what he turns into.

Almost may as well keep Dalton. Geno won’t be competition. IMO.  He could be but I don’t think they will take that approach. I think more Andy pt 2, big bro, mentor, emergency starter.
I really want to be wrong but we have had no encouraging signs there for two years.

If we are stuck with Bryce again, and it looks like we will be, I would so much more prefer a younger player with a possible future. A guy that hasn’t been great but maybe didn’t have the best situation - and let nature take its course.

But I don’t expect anything that I want to happen, as far as it goes. It never does. Not one time yet under Tepper. Starting with the 3-4.

If the Raiders don't want him, why should we

There is someone better we might could trade for who is falling out with the team that drafted him

Lamar Jackson>Geno Smith

Raiders are in complete overhaul rebuild mode.  Geno has no place in that plan.

And yes if the rumors are true you do whatever it takes to get Lamar

Geno and Pete are getting a lot of people pointing at them and laughing that they're covered in poo right now. Folks tend to forget that they were brought there to dive into the Raiders organizational cesspool and try to bring it back to the surface.

Pete deserves better in his twilight years and man, Geno should just take the money and run. Back-up QB? He'd be a decent one. Better than a few starters out there? Maybe. Bridge QB? Maybe.

For us? I'd take a pass for the time being. We've got changes coming at QB1 and QB2 most likely (barring something miraculous) and I really don't know what Canales will want. I just know he got saddled with what he has now, as did Dan Morgan (who was probably part of the system that got us where we are, but that's another story.)

You all are looking at this the wrong way. No one wants Geno Smith. Everyone would prefer Mac Jones or Jameis Winston.

To replace Young.

Not going to happen. We need to replace Dalton, because that's how you can get Young replaced. Dalton is like a subtle, whispered reason that Young can't be replaced.

"Well Young has to play, look who his backup is. You know Dalton can't play anymore."

    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
    • Canales can never get his teams ready in the first week of the season so far. Hope that changes or Ben Johnson is going to take his azz to school.
