He isn't an upgrade over XL. He is just a special teamer who is the coaches pet.

I agree he is  a coaches pet. Skillwise XL is better but constantly  messing up on Critical downs in a playoff game aint gonna cut it. He needs to get out his own head before he turns into a afterthought

Lol. Yes. The people pointing at the only 1 Rec for 5 yards are missing the context of him playing less than 4 games on the season. Also, if we are going to use stats, he is technically our surest catcher on the roster at 100% catch rate.

The people freaking out over him being activated are being hyperbolic. It's a fuging nothing move for a special teams guy and a depth WR. He ain't winning nor losing us a playoff game.

year prior, he was I think the worst WR in all the NFL by several metrics.   Just so pointless to have such a low ceiling WR on the field w/ Bryce.  We need miracle potential.

I bet XL still gets snaps lol

He will, but I think Canales has very little patience with him. After the drop he had against Tampa last week (drop + either a terribly run route or lazy route), he was practically benched the rest of the game. Hopefully Canales is finally to the point where if he isn't perfect in every play he runs, his ass gets benched

Yeah my point is Canales is just slow to adjust.  And he typically doesn't carry over his decisions week to week.  Look at how long the RB situation was a mess.  His playing time methodology is hard to understand sometimes.

Canales has proven that over the course of the year... It takes people/reporters blasting him before he actually makes a change. One of his many weaknesses as a coach also...

I'm not sure XL will ever be good enough between the ears. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to play ball but focus and seeing the need to improve are bare minimum for projects IMO. He hasn't shown anything positive in those categories. Once the team sits or moves him will probably be a good sign if he will ever wake up or just keep being wasted physical talent.

XL had 3 catches in the 4th quarter.   Dave ain't done w/ him.  Coker just earned his %

The only reason I say Moore is an upgrade, is he plays a ton of roles on special teams mainly but he also doesn't make boneheaded plays when playing a wr spot.  Him knowing down n distance in a playoff game is already a upgrade over XL.

Yeah I don't get the negativity. Dude moves the chains.  If he plays offense,  he'll probably get a first down or two.

    • I'm OK with picking up the 5th year option (mostly because there aren't any clear long-term better options likely to be available in the offseason) but I need to see a lot more consistency before I'd support a full-on contract extension.
    • Yall are a little unrealistic. This is the first time in his 3 years that this QB has had a roster they could actuallyt win with - and we're in the playoffs. No one to throw to and the worst interior oline this franchise has ever fielded as a rookie. Defense was meh but would get worse. Second season Derrick Brown gets injured for the year in the first game and we march out the worst run defense (and possibly overall defense) in the history of the NFL. So many on here talking about an average QB would have this team with 12+ wins. You're delusional. How many games would we have won last season with just an average defense? KC, Philly and the first TB games off the top of my head. And that's with Thielen as your best receiver, rookie XL and rookie Coker. David Moore was the second best receiver last season. David Moore. This season the defense has improved but we're lining up too many rookies to make it to the playoffs on both sides of the ball, yet here we are. I ain't saying Bryce Young is the answer, but he has been a big part of some big wins this season. I'm hopeful that we'll see improvement when he has more time with this very young receiving corp. Remember, they're learnig how to be pros at the same time as we're going to the playoffs. The only veteran receiving  presence we've had this year is Tommy Tremble. We could actually see big improvement if David Moore comes back healthy. And that is saying alot.
    • Dowdle was fresh and it was early in  the year. It gets more difficult later in the year when teams improve, gel and get in their grooves. Hunt being out also plays into it but then when was the last time the Panthers adjusted well with personnel? Morris did some good but the QB situation was enough to sink both him and the GM. I'm more on the 'if they played Cousins they could have won the division this year' side. It would have been ugly but it was really low hanging fruit. Penix getting g I injured again and losing the division by a game was enough to know he isn't the guy IMO. 2 years is the standard and he still falls on the wrong side. Im surprised Lovie is back. I have zero faith he can build up any team. Did a decent job maintaining someone else's build but how he handled this year vs the last 2 was enough to give him a pink slip IMO.
