CBS Sports brief discussion about questionable Canales decision making

Only thing I really agreed with is questioning why we didn’t take any timeouts on their last drive.  I know hindsight is 20/20, but I think it would’ve saved clock bc they were desperate to score as soon as the opportunity presented itself, but I also think it could’ve helped the defense regroup and maybe give us a better chance to stop them.

Canales once again proved the score dictates the way he calls plays

17-14 and Canales starts being stubborn with the run game when it’s beyond obvious we have no run game. This offense is at its best when Canales is aggressive and Bryce is throwing downfield. Which Canales only is when we’re trailing by 7+

Settled for a FG that drive when we should’ve been going for 7

Add tempo, this was like the only game I can think of this season that we went up tempo.  Bryce looked WAY more comfortable when we were just blowin and goin.

Very Brief but also Very Valid. Starts at the 4:10 mark

He isn’t wrong

3 timeouts … there were options….same with several things Canales did as a play caller and as a HC, his not controlling Evero is an issue

i feel, too, the two of them combined, hold those players back

Let them play..

how smart do you have to be to know you cannot give Stafford no pressure and a prevent defense

I think Canales needed to take the timeouts simply because of Dave and Bryce….

it does not appear they have the playcalls and ability to handle a scenario which such little time on the clock and basically panic.  That was the second time this season we have seen them get the ball with little time and needing points…..and they failed to move the ball an inch both times.   Call it inexperience.  But they don’t seem to grasp getting yards and moving the ball in a real tight time crunch and look for too big of chunks.  Both times they had timeouts and just let the clock burn looking looking to get it all in one play.

still think this game showed we need a new DC and OC.  Canales needs to focus on just being a HC.   Maybe if he was focused on that he would have more time to help guide his playcallers to moments where they could use it.  While Evero was busy not calling a D, the OC in theory needed to be in his play sheet figuring out what he wanted to do.  Just too much on Dave

It’s my issue with Canales. It’s to the point I rather be trailing in a game until the very end.

When we start attacking downfield and Bryce gets into a rhythm he’s damn good. It’s when Canales is hellbent on setting up 3rd and medium-long with the run game is when this offense stalls out.

This offense seems to live in 3rd down when Canales wants to kill momentum and run the ball

Rico is gone. Him and Chuba are mostly the same back at this point. neither back is able to run that angle route Kyren scored on yesterday. Easy ass completion for a touchdown for Stafford. What really hurts this offense is our inability to draw up easy completions for 10 yards or so but we don’t have the playmakers for that. Watch Chicago play and I’m so jealous of the talent they have. Their TE might be their best WR in a room that has Odunze Burden and Moore.

The entire defense bit on a screen to Bruden leaving Moore wide ass open. We don’t have a player that will threaten the defense on a simple screen. That 2nd down inside screen to Coker was dead from the start yesterday. Terrible play at a terrible time
