Evero Extended Through 2026

I love this personally. Question the last drive all you want. A lot of that could have been the absence of horn and having a new corner who hadn't played much on the outside, but simply you aren't in the playoffs without the defenses play this year. Horn and jackson made a killing with ints this year.. and that's without a reliable pass rush.

Coming off historically the worse defense ever with a lack of players you give him brown back and a few rookies and your back to an average defense. That shows coaching isn't the issue it's lack of chess pieces to make the system work. If he isn't force to blitz to generate pressure which he clearly doesn't like to do his defense is even better. I think he's a top 10 defensive mind.

Fuuug me. Lets see if he learned and can overcome the late game soft zone when game is on line  to actually help us win.  We gonna give him some more players... I like stability and consistency if it proves out to be valuable.

I get it honestly. Tepper wants to see this happen and keep trending in the right direction. If not, and there is significant regression, everyone gets wiped out all at once. I’d much prefer tha than having a few pieces holding on through another retool.

He has his primary pieces, the only maybe is bringing in a new offensive guy to help refine our approach on that side of the ball.

I have no issue with this at all.

His first year went fairly well despite lack of talent on D.

Second year, his D was stripped of talent just to put all focus on building the O around Bryce.  Then he lost Derrick Brown, Shaq, etc.  Absolutely no chance to succeed with that.

This was the first year with a slight chance and we moved up to middle of the pack despite no pass rush and weakness at LB.

Now, I would expect to see (1) attention to D in free agency, (2) growth from last year's draft picks, and (3) nice improvement in our defensive rankings next year.  If (1) doesn't happen, I'll be questioning Dan Morgan.  If (2) and (3) don't happen, then I'll be wanting Evero's head.

You know what would really help? Not drafting god damn offensive players in R1 every year like we have for the past 4 out of 5 years. It's not rocket science why the defense is low on talent at edge and MLB

With this regime's reputation I fully expect them to draft a TE, WR, or an LT to replace Ickey now that he's likely not gonna be 100% by the time next year starts.

    • I think he's gone, and rightfully so, if he turns in another losing record. The "talented roster," regardless of how true or not, is a double-edged sword. If the roster is so much improved now from 202X then why are you still producing losing seasons? On one hand, maybe that's what needs to happen. Have the GM hire the new coach, and then have the new coach pick his guy to run his system. That is typically how it works in the NFL. Not the forced inheritance deal we have had in place.
    • Hinging on Brooks to be our spark...be good if it happens... but not holding my breath....RB next draft. Morgan gambled...it would be a 2 year payoff if thing happened.
    • Only way Canales is fired is if we are attrocious everywhere....  defense /special teams and offense..  There are enough "questions" on if BY9 is the guy that ownership wouldn't fire the coach for "just" mid qb play.  Especially with as talented a roster that has played "well enough" to win some tough football games and hang in there against the top tier of the NFL ...(mostly).   Now total team suckage..yeah .. but I don't see that happening.
