if this is the excellent news then i would really really did i say really hate to see the bad news...just saying

all the 5th does is create dead cap money for when we trade him or cut.  When he has another sub par 4rth year no way in hell they trot him out for a 5th

Next up, 5 year 260m extension with a 155m signing bonus. Will be done before draft time. Other franchises move on from their mistakes. Panthers double, triple down, bet the house and their 1st born child that Bryce will defy 60 years of NFL history. We are so fuging stupid.

Yep

it kills me when people say byoung is improving his qbr by year rankwd compared to all nfl qbs 29th 20th 27th this year.  every single stat category outside of short td passes and rushing has been almost identical or a small drop this year.  he had 2 games all year over 300yds and one of those was a game he played horrible in and the cards went full prevent for almost the entire remainder of the game.  it would be diff if u saw 29th 25th 15th but no he is who he is a botttom 10% of the nfl startinf qbs

We will have wasted 5 years of our lives with Bryce as the QB. Insane.

Also wasted time for Tmac and Coker both, possibly XL even though I don't hold much hope for him. If Bryce isn't willing to work on his footwork and gets a 5th year, why should XL work on catching the ball, or running routes, staying in bounds, etc.

Yeah it is wasted for everyone. Even AT, who he fed, felt like it was wasted. Was done with it.

The resources…

surely as a long term Panthers fan and from that viewpoint, he put it on a side track that does not lead anywhere but right back where we were. Years later.

If we had healthy CBs vs TB in ‘22 we could have gotten into the playoffs with a losing record. We essentially blew all of that time, money and assets to do a 360. 3 fuging years.

Now we are supposed to wait 5 years for him to make mid. Top 15 ranking. I am not sure they would have waited 5 years for Joe Montana. You think Belichick waits 5 years for Brady? Not me. And we are in the era of the cheap slotted salary for drat picks era, where it is supposed to be easier to move on. You have to want to though and you have to be in charge with a clue.

He has had flashes that lasted a whole game, a couple of times. I could stretch that to 4 maybe but I am not even sure of that. Maybe. He has had substantially more flashes that lasted a half or quarter, but all that combined doesn’t stack as high as his weak performances.
It is maddening.

    • Word is that Lawrence showed up and weighed in at nearly 400 pounds for his Bengals medical check. I'd find a reason to fail him. Blood type tested as bacon grease. Fail. We've all seen what happens when a dominant huge, explosive DT can't manage his weight. You're gonna age like milk. Looking like Kris Jenkins 2.0.
    • Hard to interpret some of Brugler's opinions. Capable of running a robust route tree sounds like a lazy thing to say - I'm sure just about every slot TE is capable of running a full route tree... I want to know if he is currently able to (which from tape leads me to a no). Granted, it's pretty common for most receivers/TE not having a full route tree developed before they get drafted. Agility/acceleration after the catch hasn't shown up on his tape (at least his Oregon tape) for those dig/out breaking routes while it has for the seam and slant routes. Agree he has a good physical build and he is very good running seam routes. His build definitely helps him to shield defenders and create a large target point for the QB. Drops were a concern, but it could be focus drops just like T-Mac was/is prone to. Run blocking is an accurate statement, but again, we have only seen him run block in the slot/backfield - inline blocking is a whole different animal. With his athleticism, he definitely has a high ceiling. I just think he also has a low floor and don't like taking that big of a risk on a mid 1st rounder. I think this is a deep TE draft and would much rather target one in the 3rd or later. He's very boom or bust to me - bust in terms of being worth a 1st round pick, not an out of the NFL in a few years type bust. I feel like he gives me Evan Engram vibes. Not saying that Evan Engram was/is a bad NFL player, just that most people would agree he shouldn't have been drafted in the 1st.
