Bryce = Alex Smith

Recommended Posts

Holding out hope for a Mahomes type player to hit is farfetched. Hoping to draft a Mahomes is closer to winning the lottery than finding a good starter as even top 10 QB picks still fail 50%+ of the time (looking at you BY). There's maybe 1 Mahomes level player every 10–15 years and the chance we pick one is 1 in 2,500.

Chiefs Alex Smith or 49 Alex Smith, so you're saying there's a chance we might get Kappernick??!

dear god...I hope not.  I dont mind anything about the protest or anything but Kaepernick succckkked.  He was a singular read QB.  I watched the guy throw for like 50 yards in a game because his first read was never open (yes...Im aware about Bryce young...Im not sold on him either).  In all honesty I think the "protest" began with him throwing a temper tantrum because he was benched for blaine Gabbart (jesus christ you have to be BAAAAD for that to happen).  I think he made up an excuse after he pouted on the sideline and it caught fire.  That said, I dont mind bringing attention to the issues he did, and in fact I love how he went out and did things like help get ex black inmates suitable clothing to get jobs after incarceration, great poo.  However, after that, football became a secondary thing to him and frankly, should be if he cares about the issue.

I've used a lot of words to say, please god dont let us get a colin Kaepernick 1 read then run QB, todays NFL would absolutely break that dude in half.

It was right at the end of his SF time.

Hence why it makes zero sense to extend Bryce. If your ceiling is Alex Smith(Bryce has nothing near that as his ceiling) then there is no reason to invest in that.

Let's focus on building a team for the future Pat Mahomes, not Alex Smith.

He got markedly better under Harbaugh

Alex Smith was a more efficient passer and had a higher YPA.

They are comparable in some ways but at 6'4 213 Alex Smith was not limited the way Bryce is.

How was Alex Smith his first 3 seasons? How did he compare to Bryce?

This is a fair point, but I think people are forgetting just how bad the 49ers were back then.  They were getting a top 5 pick every year for like a decade. Alex Smith was selected by the worst team in football. Bryce Young MADE US the worst team in football.  Huge difference.

We were ass before Bryce arrived then they took away our best two weapons. Have you forgotten DJ Chark as the #1 WR?

Thats still not good. Look what he did this year

Right. I didn’t think it was good either but the QB sure did. He was the defacto number one target, not Chark, was my point.

He was considered small back then. Brees was thought to be a midget.

Everything has been skewers by Kyler and now bryce.

alex smith did have really small hands. Like the kind of small hands you hope your girlfriend has to boost your ego.

I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing

That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?

    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
