Hindsight being 20/20, we just went all in on the wrong QB class. We would've been far better off investing all those assets we spent elsewhere.

Bingo! Will history repeat itself or will we dip our toes in the QB rich 2027 draft class?

I was low-key shocked when we made the trade to move up, but had to accept it like everyone us. I wasn't for it though. I just value draft capital too much, and I certainly wouldn't have traded my main receiver away to make it work. What we should've done is toon our medicine and waited to move up in the next draft---if necessary---and taken the guy that played in our backyard. We wouldn't have had to move up to one to do that. This is not hindsight either.

Exactly. It was an impatient hedge fund billionaire wanting immediate results even though the average NFL fan realized that '23 QB class was questionable at best.   Even if there was a voice inside the building that cautioned against the move up and/or waiting for a much better QB class the following spring, it's not like Tepper would have listened.

You don't trade away one of the top LTs in the league when you don't have a valid replacement and your QB thrives in a pocket.  They also traded away Kenyon Green OG to make cap space.  They were wanting to make their defense elite at the expense of their offense which worked but Nico getting hurt followed by Schultz during the game absolutely finished off what remined of their offense.  Those 2nd and 3rd round rookie WRs could be good, but they need some more time as most due picked in that range.  I'm sticking with ALL QBs need protection and weapons to be competitive in this league.  CJ for example wasn't playing that bad all year when he had his TE and WR1 healthy, his rookie year was and will be an outlier for the reasons you already mentioned.  This playoff game was also an outlier for the reasons I mentioned.

Do you know how bad Kenyon Green is? He’s not even on the Eagles anymore the team the Texans traded him to. He legit might be the worst guard in the NFL

The Texans also just drafted Ersery in the 2nd round. The Texans aren’t the first team to trade Tunsil either.

But yeah I do agree overall that all QBs need help. It’s why I think using wins as a QB stat is dumb as hell.

Peoples expectations for young QBs is just too high IMO.

CJ Stroud is better than Bryce.  But he's going to have days when he struggles, and going to New England and playing good ball in bad weather ain't easy.

His performance was disappointing but long-term wise I still think he's going to be a damn good QB.  It is just a hard position.  One of the hardest, if not the hardest, in all of sports.  Look at Mahomes' #s this past year, and we know how good he is.

Not saying to forgive Stroud for how he played.  But I remember stinkers that Peyton would put up in the postseason.  Stroud isn't Peyton, but the point still stands.  These games will happen to young QBs, especially in the postseason.  It isn't abnormal.

Maybe, but we now have two consecutive seasons where he has regressed from his outstanding rookie season and the last two games have been disastrous. He has the talent but he absolutely has to adapt. Seems like he's struggling to adapt to NFL DCs getting film on him to study and his confidence has to really be floundering right now. Next season is big for him.

Troy Aikman said something towards the end of the game about CJ needing to take the next step and the coaches having to get it figured out which made me think he knows something he’s not at liberty to say.

Not sure if he has inside knowledge or if he's just stating the obvious.

I don't think Bryce has turned any sort of corner. I honestly don't think he has a corner to turn. He's always going to be very physically limited with a low ceiling as an NFL starting QB.

On one hand it’s a lot of people with an axe to grind who feel like they have to die on a hill fighting anything but effusive praise for their boy and this is just another opportunity. The hot take-ification of discourse

otoh that might have been a career killer for stroud yesterday.
